The goal of our "Song Challenges" is to write songs/lyrics on demand within set parameters. We don't critique each other's songs in this thread (but you can say you like someone's song if you want to.) Please post your original works. If you have already written a song/lyric that fits within the parameters, please feel free to post it.
Time for our New Year Resolutions: You will need either a repeating hook in the verses or a chorus. The song must have the word resolution(s) in it somewhere. Good luck and Happy New Year to you all!

OK, here is one of mine from an earlier time. Will try to get the instrumental up on the mp3 forum for you to hear the music. No vocals.
Get Around To ©2001, 2007 J.M. Richardson Bullock (JeanB)
Refrain: Get around to, really meant to do, Gonna, gonna, gonna get it done, someday. Get around to, really meant to do, Gonna, gonna, gonna, gonna talk it away. It’s talk. Just talk.
1. You hardly say I love you to your honey anymore. She is keepin' score; one day she's gonna leave you. You don't talk to your children like you say you're goin' to. Soon they will be grown and you'll be left alone. (Refrain) 2. You sit upon the sofa while you're watchin' your T V; on it you can see some children goin' hungry. You never send 'em money like you say you're goin' to. You never send 'em any not a nickel, not a penny. (Refrain)
3. You make a list of resolutions every New Year's Day. Nothin' that you say ever really happens. It's time to make those changes like you say you're goin' to. You know it's up to you. Quit talkin' and just do!
Bridge: Gonna do, meant to do, I'll get it done is all you ever say. When opportunity comes knockin', it only hears you talkin' and time keeps slipping away. Do what you say!
Refrain

Hi Jean, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! Here's my offering. Each Chorus is slightly different. A little past my bedtime...but hey...it's Christmas! “Resolutions” ( (Gender neutral/Uptempo)) ©2007 Lynn Orloff Another year is over, But I ain’t lookin’ back, You had my heart I will admit, I’ll surely give you that. Yeah baby you were usin’ me, You didn’t treat me right, Shame on you to break my heart, It’s just not plum/real polite. LiftI’ve got some resolutions, infact I got a list, I thought you’d like to hear em’, they go somethin’ like this… I resolve to never fall for someone just like you, I resolve you’ll never hear me singin’ out the blues, Yes I resolve to uninvolve my heart from lovin’ yours, Cause baby you can’t use my heart like some revolvin’ door.Don’t think that I’m a losin’ sleep, Cause you ain’t worth the zzzz’s, I’m gonna’ dot my i’s this time, I’ll even cross my t’s. Yeah I won’t make the same mistake, I'll take my sweet ole' time, The word is out, I’m fancy free, The guys/gals have formed a line. LiftI’ve got me resolutions, so many there’s a list, I’ll read em' to you one by one, they go somethin’ like this… I resolve to tell the world that you’re not worth the time, I resolve to not forget that sometimes love is blind, Yeah I resolve to have some fun and when I’m done have more, Cause baby you can’t use my heart like some revolvin’ door.BridgeDon't even try to win me back, You're sure to get the boot, You'll find my will is stronger now, Just call me resolute! I resolve to listen to the wisdom of my friends, Who told me that I shouldn’t even look at you again, Yeah it’s goodbye, good riddin’s, this time I’m really sure, Cause baby you can’t use my heart like some revolvin’ door.

Resolutions © words by C. Stewart ( Dec. 26, 2007 )
Every year we go round and round Like the old black vinyl forty five Got some skips and scratches in our sound The fingerprints of life, but we'll survive
CHORUS... With resolutions Maybe we'll follow through this time With resolutions Baby you make yours and I'll make mine
We're trying very hard to improve Hoping that the future will be bright Try to clean the dirt from our grooves And remove all the blues from the night
CHORUS... With resolutions Maybe we'll follow through this time With resolutions Baby you make yours and I'll make mine
BRIDGE... Our song of love is spinning, out of control And all of the notes have went flat But here's a way to fix all that
CHORUS... With resolutions Maybe we'll follow through this time With resolutions Baby you make yours and I'll make mine

Another year (Parody of Paul McCartney’s Another Day)
Stars from yesteryear keep passing on Sun rises in the morning Each Day begins another dawn It’s just another year Politician ramblings People so confused Deeply in despair and depression Ah it’s just another year
Cars break down and catch on fire Everything seems to Be coming down to the wire
It’s just another year du du du du du It’s just another year du du du du du It’s just another year
So bad so bad Resloutions turn out so bad Every year we decide once again To try to do things with a different spin
Ah, we try, try very hard Not to do what we shouldn’t But we do the next day So bad Resolutions turn out so bad
Stars from yesteryear keep passing on Sun rises in the morning Each Day begins another dawn It’s just another year Politician ramblings People so confused Deeply in despair and depression Ah it’s just another year
It’s just another year du du du du du It’s just another year du du du du du It’s just another year

it's funny I've had a new years resolution song idea for several years last year I pitched it to a cowriter and she liked it and wanted to work on it it wasn't till the last few days that I completed the first draft of the lyric (that I was happy with) then asked her again if she was interested I'll post it when I've got a demo or a video ande The goal of our "Song Challenges" is to write songs/lyrics on demand within set parameters. We don't critique each other's songs in this thread (but you can say you like someone's song if you want to.) Please post your original works. As The Midnight Bell Starts To Chime We All Sing A Chorus of Auld Lang Syne Then Raise a Glass and Maybe Shed A Tear As We Bid Farewell To Another Passing Year.
Then My Resolution Oh Everyone Shall Know Because I Shall Broadcast It In Full Stereo My Resolution Is ..No More Resolutions So I Shall Keep Just One And Let The Other Go.
Happy New Year To All @ J.P.F.

(sorry just just can't help it with apologies to the Boys) Resolution You say you want a resolution Well, you know We all want to change our weight You tell me that it's evolution Well, you know We all want to change our shape But when you talk about delusion Don't you know that you can count me out Don't you know it's gonna be all right all right, all right .... On a serious note, how often do you have these challenges? I'm new around here. KAC

Well here I am and I'll guess i'll just jump right in.
Here's a Christmas lyric.
Christmas Past
Maybe the snow was a little whiter Maybe the tree a little more green Maybe the stars shown a little brighter I don't know - Christmas Past wasn’t just a dream
There was a time that I remember When I could hardly sleep at night Listening for hoof prints on the roof top I'd fall asleep with sleigh bells in my mind
Was it that long ago I hung those stockings with care In hopes that Santa Claus would soon be there How can I return to a place I knew back when A Christmas Past I knew when I was ten
Santa Claus if you're still there I've got a wish for you I hope you can bring it to me If you can spare the room I need you to take me back to a place where reindeer fly And the stars shine as bright as the Magic in the children's eyes
Was it that long ago I hung those stockings with care In hopes that Santa Claus would soon be there How can I return to a place I knew back when A Christmas Past I knew when I was ten

It would help if I actually read the challenge.
Here's my shot..... Happy new year.
My Resolution
It’s that time of year again When we fine who’s the real friend The one who stands beside us When we make this New Year’s promise
A solution to my problems Is quite simply you see All I need’s a resolution To be all I can be
So I ask you my friend To stick with me till the end Till the end of the week at least I’ll lose the weight then we can feast
A resolution is a simple solution Nothing to do but promise Nothing to do but say I promise to make a resolution some day.
I promise to be truthful I promise to be true I promise my resolution Will last at least till this song is through
( hmmm.. Is this lyric to short? )
