It be that time of year again, when everyone just goes completely insane, trying to live up to the media's projected expectations of how we must live.
For the Christians, it's the birthday of Jesus Christ. For those who choose not to indulge in any religion at all, it's Happy Holidaze.
For ALL OF US, it SHOULD be a time to get together with family, friends, and stay warm, and party. For SOME OF US, it's time to struggle through another winter day, slogging through the snow, and just silently enduring.
As for those in our society who would like to demean and degrade the traditional definition of Christmas, turning it into just another sterile and media-infected misadventure, I hope that you have a good time, because karma does indeed remember who you are, even if Santa Claus doesn't.
Ultimately, whoever you are, whatever you do and wherever you do it, I want to wish you a safe, warm and hopefully happy end of the year, and also hopes for a postively glorious beginning of a New Year.

Amen. I do my best to avoid the media infection and overproduced commercialism. We 'downsized' the kids' and our expectations of what we "should" have for Christmas a few years ago, and our Christmases have been so much more enjoyable. Less cluttered. Less junky "one more for so & so" toys that break in a month, just to come out "even." And no more January bills to boot, because we do it cash-only, period. Whatever that means. Yes - it can be done. Less time in the stores, more time pulling taffy or icing cookies or playing board games. Highly recommended. Linda

Merry Christmas, Snake. May the spirit of the season remain with you throughout the coming year. I understand you have experienced a great sadness in your life. I pray that God will grant you some time to spend with your son soon. I know he means everything in the world to you. Keep the faith, man.
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Merry Christmas all, this is the season we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, even though it is not certain exactly when Jesus was born, but it was unlikely that it was December 25 or anytime close to it. Big business is doing it's best to remove the reason for the season but it'll always remain Merry Christmas to me, not Happy Holidays.

Tricia, my dear, sweet, beautiful friend, I wish the same for you, and I would hope that the nurses station doesn't get so busy that you can't take a minute to look into some poor scared patient's eyes and show a little love.....
Linda, honey, you know that I love you, and I feel very fortunate to know that those feelings are mutual, here's to close friends!
Bill, Everett, Thanks guys.....It's comforting to hear that some of us Americans still think of family and the true value of simple things like a smile. I am actually pagan myself, but the traditional Christian defintion and origins of Christmas are still much more meaningful to me than a shopping frenzy at the mall.

You all have a great Holiday Season and a New Year filled with great new songs! And out of the mouths of babes..... The other day my 7 year old son proclaimed pretty matter of factly that he knew that "Jesus grew up to be Santa". It just seemed logical to him

Rachel, honey, I'll be very much alone, too.....Yeah, there's a crowd around my apartment complex, but it's just not the people who really mean so much to me....they're all scattered around everywhere....
The day after Christmas, I will be on my way down to Georgia to see my Dad, for the grand total of two days, so the entire season might not be a total loss....I might even sneak off to Florida... that is, if no one sees me leavin' and turns me back northbound...

Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope this season brings you peace. To all those (like myself) who are spending your first holiday without a loved one, may God bless you and keep you comforted.
