Sunday January 13th from 1-5pm at the Whistle Stop in Safety Harbor is going to be the after holiday party/showcase or what ever else you want to call it. This is a family atmosphere with some pretty good food. It is outdoors but we should all be comfortable this time of year. Hope to see you all there!

Looking forward to Jan 13th! Once per month would work fine for me, too. Hopefully there's enough folks.

I've reserved Jan. 13 for you guys and gals and plan to be there. I also vote for once a month, though we have to see how well the Whistle Stop works before we commit to once a month there.

I haven't committed to anything but January 13th. I figured we better get one done and see how it goes before scheduling anything else. See ya all on the 13th of January!

I think the Chapter has lost something by not having meetings on a more regular basis. I can't always make all of them but I'm sure enough others will.
Thw present seldom/irrecgular meeting could evenually endanger the viability of the chapter as people find other things to do or just assume that the chapter is dormant
Stay tuned. Carl

In the first place anyone can host a showcase it doesn't have to be Al or myself. Some of the JPF chapters have showcases 3-4 times a year and a lot of them don't have any at all. Each chapter is different in that respect. Al did one hell of a great job in starting the chapter and keeping the monthly meetings going for 5 years. From the individual performances and open mic's that I've attended there is still a lot of networking/support happening here. Just 9 days until showcase time. The Tampa Bay Chapter is far from being dormant!

The showcase is one week from tomorrow. The Whistle Stop in Safety Harbor. 1-?pm If you want to play early come early to get on the sign up sheet. Be tuned and ready to go when your time comes. Dawn(one of the owners) was kind enough to put an ad in the St.Pete times week ender as well as a notice on the Whistle Stop web site. Looking forward to seeing every one on Sunday January 13th.

On the Whistle Stop web site it says 1-4 pm. I just talked to Dawn at the whistle stop and she said we could play until 6 pm. There should be plenty of time for everyone to play 3 songs. Just remember that this is a family event so no "nasty" songs will be allowed. Let the fun in the sun begin!

Thanks Mike! Dawn, one of the whistle stop owners is very easy and NICE to deal with. A special thanks to Barkin Barney for starting the ball rolling. Barney and a few others started a conversation with Dawn about holding a showcase at the whistle stop and then Barney gave me a call.I contacted Dawn and the rest is history. Al Alvarez is e-mailing every Tampa Bay Jpfer as well. Thanks to all that helped get the ball rolling!

Sad to say Leigh and I won't be there.
We got a house party/picnic gig to do on Sunday from some folks we met last Sunday doing a house party.
Hope this JPF continues at Whistle Stop!

Talked to Dawn last night and she is looking foward to Sunday and the bunch of us invading the place. Had the grouper sandwich last night and it is one of the best I've had. I haven't worked up the nerve for the fried geen tomatoes yet. This should be fun.

Sorry I have been absent from the area for a while (Colleen and I are aboard our boat in the Bahamas), leaving Bruce in the lurch. The Blue Island Beer club will reconvene upon my return. Have fun at the Whistle Stop.

Best laid plans...
I got a gig on Sunday (yay!) so I won't be able to attend the showcase (boo.) However, if it becomes a semi-regular thing, I'm sure I'll be able to make the next one...

It's not looking good for me, Jerry...already after 12:30, and I've got a sick, fussy grandchild to take care of. If I can't get over to The Whistle Stop, I hope you all have a great afternoon of music and friendship.

Mike: I spent three days in bed with the flu. This one is really nasty. Against my better judgement I played and I shouldn't have. Hard lesson learned! I hope that your grandson heals quickly. The good news is that the second Sunday of the month is now our regular showcase at the Whistle Stop. Hope to see you at the next one!

The 10th of February is our next showcase. I want to thank Barry,Dan & Andy for helping me tear down and load up. This is the most incredible group of talented people on the planet. You folks are the reason that this chapter has been so successful in the past and will continue to be in the future. WE ARE FAMILY!

Jerry & Barney, Thanks for your part in getting this to happen today...and also to the Whistlestop for providing a really great atmosphere for musicians.
PS... To all those that didn't hear, "Goody & Mike's 3rd Annual BackYard BBQ-BASH & JAMM" happens on Sunday April 20th and it promises to be an even bigger time. You're invited...I have a note about it on the UPDATE Page of the website... and you can email me too.

OK -- well first let me say how incredible to see all my old friends. I have missed you guys...the Horsefeathers guys (Don, Andy, Jerry), it was great to hear all your new stuff. It was great to see Al again and hear some new stuff from him singing is A%* off! It was great to see Jules again and hear his 45 chord songs! Awesome, man whata great sound! Then I was watching Jak play and sing -- man -- it was great to hear that kind of guitar playing and songwriting again. I see Don every work day but not up there playing and singing - man that was awesome, great stuff. Barnie is the man, dude...you kicked it. Loved it. Then my old friend Stephanie, I haven't see her play in years...I sat there mesmerized. Her songs were great...Ghost( whew)... and her first song was so haunting I had to fight to keep it together myself - and it was nice to hang with her husband Scot, I haven't seen him in awhile too! It was really great to see and hear Goody and Barry play again and Jeff Blake was awesome too. Nice to see MaryAnn..it's been awhile since I've seen her or Jim.
Then it was great to meet some new guys I had never met but only seen on the boards, Steve V (great stuff), Papos (great stuff too - nice irish accent!). ET had some really cool tunes and sounded great.
I hope I didn't miss anyone but I am slammed and tired...if so...sorry!
GREAT meeting...Tampay Bay Chapter has so much talent...keep up the meetings! EVERY month!
PEACE....AWP

I was thouroughly impressed by the performances as well! My mom just turned 85 and had a hard time falling asleep because the music was still churning in her head. My chest is still bursting with pride this morning! We all made the showcase a real success.

I sent Jim Mason a JPF healing hug from all of us in the Tampa Bay Chapter. He is supposed to see his doctor today so I am hoping that it is a reasonably easy fix.

Two thumbs up Jerry, a very nice showcase indeed. It was good to feel that chemistry again that only happens at a jPF event. Thanks to everyone who came out and shared their music. I was totally impressed by many of the songs that were performed also. ET Morris' Hurricane song, Barkin Barney's Florida song was a riot, Johnny Vanderlip showed up and he just plain kills in my opinion and Steve Vaclavic, I guess I just hadnt realized what a really good performer he is...WOW! Everyone did a great job getting up and entertaining and I look forward to seeing you out and about at local venues supporting Indie Artists. Al, Thanks for the kind words....being around this highly talented group of individuals leads to some rather quick motivation!! That and the fact that I've gotten in a lot of practice in the last year. Practice makes...well, for me, just makes for more practice. Steve V
