HiDee Bro Benster!
Hmmm...41 "lookers" & no Commentary? OK..I'll try!
It's a VERY Broadbased "Lament"..& ends up blaming The Listener for What's Wrong...(Or seems to, somehow..)
Now if it FOCUSED on maybe One or Two "Wrong Things" in DETAIL, it might just work. But when ya pump out Debatable Quips, like "The US has no friends" it needs LOTSA "Supporting Data", IMO...or you've just Lost A Listener..should they Disagree Witcha.(V4 seems intent in Alienating as many Religions as-possible in one Stanza..)
Bridge IS interesting..tho somewhat "Preachy"..but it felt More Optimistic than All-the-Rest. It's overall Very-Sardonic... The Beatles were kinda Masters of This, yet there was a bit more Fun to it. "She's Leaving Home" would be a Prime Example...tho there were even Better Examples I can't recall-When-I-Need-'Em tonight!
Good Luck with Version 2, Amigo~ Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Hiyer StanLee, Thanks for knocking the goose egg off while explainin' why it 'as there in the 1st place! Well, now, I sure don't mean it as preaching nor blaming. This is intended to be scatter-shot, but it's aimed at the "hate america first" crowd, so people on my side of the political spectrum will likely get my drift. For those who don't seek out the OTHER side of the news, well, they don't know what they're missing. 2 quick examples of the BS coverage...dependent on which party you're with. One could easily say, Aw, sour grapes, but this is EVERYDAY, YEAR ROUND. Report the negatives on Bush, the war, the Rep candidates, but pull the rope for the Dems. CBS, NBC Ignore Good News From Iraq Is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory really what the liberal media want? Sounds like it, especially when they ignore more good news from Iraq. This time it was Gen. Odierno’s report of dramatic reductions in violence in Iraq. But only ABC News bothered to air it. There was not a peep from either of ABC’s “old media” network competitors, CBS and NBC. t MRC reported: “This was the third time in less than two weeks that ABC has uniquely highlighted positive developments in Iraq....” Could the worm be turning?Bushes Celebrate 30; Media Ignore itRemember last summer when ABC gushed over John and Elizabeth Edwards' 30th wedding anniversary dinner at a Wendy's fast food restaurant? Two weeks later ABC reported the story again. Diane Sawyer promised to show the Edwards' renewing their vows – "the very first pictures of a very personal backyard ceremony." And People magazine even picked up the pictures. MRC’s Scott Whitlock remembered and wondered why ABC "found no time to air a similar story on the 30th anniversary of George and Laura Bush. The presidential couple celebrated three decades together on November 5, 2007, but GMA made no mention of it on Monday or Tuesday."

So it's a song meant to be sung to those who share the same political philosophy, and it takes a wide aim at people who act like they hate America, or who tend to blame America for all the problems in the world.
Still, it's hard to know which lines are the heartfelt beliefs and which are the tongue-in-cheek sarcasm...they're all written the same way, in plain declarative statements. I don't know if you're interested in a rewrite or just wanted to put this one out there to show the finished product, but it seems to want some clarifying. Hey, you might have yourself a real anthem here.
I say go for it! But if not, well, that's fine too.
Best Regards,
-Lyle

Hi Lyle, So busy working lately, I've little time for posts, save for what I scribble at work when it's slack. Yes, some of this is meant to be "T-I-C." Figure if I just rant nothing will get heard, but with a catchy tune some of the light ("dogs sniffing rears") stuff will make it more palatable to the listener...if an image of a dog with its nose stuck up another dog's butt can be deemed palatable! Although, even those images do have a "coded" meaning, too. Thanks for your comments. Always appreciated. Ben PS Anthem? Hmmmmmm......

I have to think too hard to read this. You had better have an awesome melody to pull this off.
Good Luck!

Hey Ben
Wow you been busy friend ok. To start with I like some of the ideas you point out here. There is cause for a lyric like this ina world where one type of Goverment and the media hook up together in an incestous brigade of mud slinging. That said your lyric leaves me wondering if things have changed or haven't. If you meant the more things change the more they stay the same I think it needs to be clarified good job otherwise though! Thanks, Monica. Don't knock yourself out! Derek, I mean that overall attitudes haven't changed, but obviously we live in a far more dangerous world. Thanks. Hi Brenda. Glad you liked it. The dogs sniffing rears is simply thrown in as something that truly hasn't EVER changed! Thanks, Ben
