I write this today and as of yet haven't made any changes. Your thoughts are welcome. In The Hands of Time © 2007 Teddie Cochran Tick tock goes the clock Father Time opens shop And the sun begins to rise Ding dong goes the chimes Mother Nature wipes her eyes And the birds begin to fly Thump, thump moves the mark To the rhythm of the heart As the sun extend his rays Click, click drops the weights As wheels slowly race And the dipper fades away In the hands of time All things live and die Who are we to question why As the pendulum sways This is how it is As we live our masquerade And the sand sifts away In the hands of time Hay… hay… hay Fragile are the moments of our lives In the hands of time Swish, swish is the rate The universe dictated Our passage in time Tick Tock goes the clock Father Time closes shop As shadows turn to night In the hands of time All things live and die Who are we to question why As the pendulum sways This is how it is As we live our masquerade And the sand sifts away In the hands of time Hay… hay… hay Even the best of us can lose or gain In the hands of time Best Regards, Teddie Cochran www.teddiecochran-music.com

You have light thoughts with deep overtones. I first thought this would be a kid's song. But, it is intense. Is this a rock tune? It could work well for those leaving childhood moving to adulthood.

Hi Monica, This would problably work best as a rock tune. The melody running through my head has that feel. I'll have to see how it all works out. It does have a childs atmosphere, the thought did come into mind as a tune for a kids animated move like the "HOBIT". I hope this has the message I intended. I guess I'll have to see how others view this then make changes accordingly. I'm afraid it may be over a lot of peoples heads.
Best Regards,
Teddie Cochran

Hi Teddie
There is certain form of poetry that goes with what your verses have with the sounds. I can't remember the name right now but there is a creative writing challenge on the creative writing board that gives more details. I'm not sure how well this one will sing. It's possible in the rock genre it would be just fine but I am thinking it is more a kids song and in a movie score would be a great place for it. The imagery is nice the only thing really bothers me is the spoken sounds other than that it a really sound lyric (no pun intended) Sincere Blessings Derek

Thanks Derek I just hope it isn't too deep for the average listener.
