Very well written and truly an unfeigned and warm sentiment. I love the personification used in this line:

I am sorry for your loss, but glad you chose to remember it and preserve the love you have for Samson.

My friends, love is love, and regardless if it's your pet dog, or your husband, wife, relative, or whoever, the feelings are the same.

My dog "tina" died while i was overseas. she was such a good dog. I hope she enjoyed being around me as much as i enjoyed being around her. i get all teary eyed when i think about it. thank you. it helps to feel every now and then.
