Got a website? Actual credits/results you can post?
I'm not sure that playing in a ski resort bar and paying you rent is a direction most people would want to take to success in the music biz.

I've been in Silverton, cute little town, operative word to me is little...500 cd's could last a loooong time there...I'm not casting a huge shadow of doubt here, but it sounds like a life of poverty in a cold place to whoever lands this gig, please correct me if I'm not doing the math right cos I mean no disrespect...Moker

Robin, just an expression of opinion here, from an ex-professional (maybe I should say "couldabeen professional") musician. I think what you're trying to do is great. But I think you need to offer a better deal. When I played with The Dodson Drifters, part of the deal at any gig was the band got fed in addition to getting paid. In your case, I would think that folks you've got coming in from out of town to play should be staying for free. Moker's right: this is good exposure, but it's one of those cases where you have to watch out the exposure doesn't turn into hypothermia. I'm still not sure why a producer would be doing this? Sound like a promoter or tavern owner to me. Producer is confusing. Could give people the wrong message. Good luck Tommy

Interesting Idea this gave me.
I want to offer any producer or publisher or manager, Heck, anyone who can further my career, a deal. I have a small storage room in my studio. I would be willing to let you rent it for, oh, $200 a month. (no bathroom tho). In exchange for providing the space for you I will give you a contract to produce, manage, promote, distribute, Well whatever, my music. I will of course retain all rights to my music and be able to shop it to anyone else I choose. In exchange for the right to further my career I will let you pay me $1000 per month.(whether I do anything or not). I will also allow you to pay for any production, distribution, Manufacturing, etc. costs. In the event we order a few thousand copies of my CD and they do not sell you would, of course, be required to pay me the retail cost for the CD's at a price set by me. I will also allow you to be responsible for the cost of storage for said CD's. I will rent you a space in the corner of the storage room for $1.00 a copy. If these requirements are to difficult to meet then I will allow you to avoid this wonderful opportunity by simply ordering 10,000 copies, at $19.95 each, of my latest CD. Payable, in advance, by direct deposit into my bank account. I'll arrange for you to be able to pick up the CD's where ever they are being produced so I can avoid paying shipping costs. Thank you RSVP this is a limited time offer.

Bill, Now that's funny:) on the subject: I agree it sounds like somone who owns a Tavern & Inn and wants talent to play for free and lets not forget also pay for rent and food while they are there and maybe sell a few cd's to pay for it all. NAH!
In my experiance of 30 years as a performer. Every place I ever played in the beginning of my career always paid for the room/s, plus food and I got to keep the tips and whatever I made from sales of my music.
Skip foward to Current..Today.. I get Paid usally around $ 200 to $500 per performance and I still get meals and accomodations while there. Some of them invlove travel in which they pay for me and my round trip equipment expenses.
This is the norm.. at least for me...

Hi Larry Well, from what I have heard on here about a musicians life it sounds like you are doing pretty good, LOL.
I was a little worried that someone might take me serious and get offended....or worse...take me up on the offer.

Hi Bill, I guess if success is measured by doing what you love I agree, I have been successful. I have managed to make a living for over 30 years making music in one form or another.
I have a loyal following and I still get calls on a regular basis to perform live. I get paid well and have a huge book of memories. Pictures and friends made along the way.. the ride has been a good one.
Some say it's the journey not the destination. So in that respect I have been a success. The only achivement I have not reached yet is that of Songwriter to the big names.
And I still am going after that dream.. But yes I feel blessed and lucky too... and I thank god daily for the gift he bestowed on me.... Larry
