Wheels On Water
it was a hydroplane rain wheels on water there I was playing God again
wheels on water three for a quarter the devils daughter and I
fast cars faster women leaving rubber skid marks, mark time boy was I movin'
spirits cloud my memory a puff of smoke a trail of dust blinding extra-sensory
it was a hydroplane rain wheels on water there I was playing God again
wheels on water three for a quarter the devils daughter and I
sensual anger biological entanglements a soft place to crash star spangled banners
a death defying pace a race to nowhere history can't erase I had been there
it was a hydroplane rain wheels on water there I was playing God again
wheels on water three for a quarter the devils daughter and I
those who have lived, wonder how they managed to make it, to the here and now

reads like a ritt/springsteen collab! I think you know springsteen is my favorite . Pretty cool! I wanted to rhyme anger with banner though..before I read the line it ended up being, banner was in my head for the rhyme. I realize that means changing lines in that verse..but FYI! I watched a show not too long ago about an aircraft Russia designed(the Hydroplane) that flew right above the water...I know you're talking about shuttling people around the streets of New York in a car but it did remind me of that hydroplane for a split second! Interesting lyric! Good Day! L

Hi Ritt,
Looks like a good one for you to do yourself in a Dylan talking rap style.

I snipped the record wire on my headphones, may one day reattach, but for now I'll consider the sanity of others, or is that the sanctity of marriage...LOL.

Ritt, this is awesome. It's also written in Calvinesque style. Did you realize that?
sensual LONGING OUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL STRONGLY a soft place to LAND WHERE LOVERS BELONG
Personally, I don't think road rage belongs in this piece.
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Calvinesque? hmmm now the poor boys temperature is going to rise!
Though the road is a focal point, it's not really about the road at all...(mispent youth)...

Hey Ritt,
Cool one! (though, like Shayne, I'm having a moment about that one too!) Enquiring minds want to know...:) "biological entanglements" -- great phrase!

Hi Ritt, Yeah, sounds like a fast paced melody too. I'm not a fan of rap but looks like it could be "rapped" all right I took the "devil's daughter thing to kinda' mean like the "dancing with the Devil" thing, which I take to mean kinda' flirting with disaster. Kinda' outa' my territory but this V---
fast cars faster women leaving rubber skid marks, mark time boy was I movin'
The women-movin' rhyme would be a pretty good stretch, even for a stretcher like me. Couldja' maybe get "swimmin' in, in place of movin' some way? Mostly flows right along, fast like Wy

Ritt,
You do with words what Helen does to my heart...wrap yourself around them and make them special. I kinda hear this one as Dylan doing rap...now that's something to ponder!

Ok skipping to Wy, as he explained the confusing lines quite well, thanks, Strangely some words are quite regional in their pronounciation, over in these parts, women and swimmin' don't even remotely rhyme...thanks again!

ok Lisa, here goes
A carnival barker would shout three for a quarter, for a game of chance that was nearly impossible to win, thus the cheap entry price into the game. One such game was trying to pitch dimes and get them to stick onto floating coffee holder sized plates in a man made wavey pond. It looked so easy, but alas it wasn't...
