Hi Stan,
Well, this makes a natural flipside to "Taking Pointers..."
consider:
and natch-r'lly fragrant (tacet).... (whispered):underwear.... "underwear" in place of boo-boop-E-doop
I kept hearing Tom Lehrer's "the Vatican Rag" as the "dummy" melody --ie "first you get down on your knees/fiddle with your rosaries..."
You're charting relatively unmanned territory (science as metaphor?) and it's potentially a landmine of wonderful "turns-of-phrases"--ie the building blocks of good songs.
wonderlol, Mike

Stan, you make me smile this morning. Been there and done that. I'd change "frequency" to mystery, if this were mine. I love to watch other people going through the change. Makes me feel like.....I was normal. ------------------ "Experience teaches us that silence terrifies people the most."~~Bob Dylan www.giddygirlmusicpublishing.com
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Hey Mr. TampaStan,
You might try a word that rhymes with rap to replace your own ass-onance rhyme there. Since you don't like it anyway. keep or sweep.
Classic Stan song.

Good Aftynoon, Bro Mikey!
Actually, I kinda had Falco's "Puttin' On The Ritz" at the back of my Addlepated Mind when I penned this one... Definitely a "Campy Little Number", Melodically!
&...guess I kinda Miss hearing those "Boop-Doop-A-Doops" too...tho that casts a Swing Song into Roaring 20's Territory, I am aware.
"She Blinded Me With Science" (Thomas Dolby) Long-ago started Mining the "Science" Angle...& I think the "trick" is to Keep It Danceable...Whenever workin' the Science Side of The Street.
Those who Don't Entirely Understand What's Bein' Said won't give a Lick if they can hear a Heavy Dance Groove.
"Takin' Pointers" is really SUCH a kinda Redneck "Country" Number, I've pitched it to some Texas Chums for co-writes. This'n's more of a Swing Bit...so, yeah, maybe you're right after all about the "Flipside"..heh-heh! (It'll sound SO Bizarre with Twin Fiddles, tho!) ;-)>
Got a New Rednecky-One to post later on tonight. Stay Tuned!
Thanks for the Kind Visit & Sugs, Amigo! Happy Sunday Off!! Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Good Aftynoon Mz Trish!
& a Happy Weekend to ya!
I wasn't thrilled with "Frequency" BUT there actually ARE Olphactric "Frequencies"...with Base Notes like MUSK, all the way up to High Ones like Cinnamon...& other Spices.
&..the Human Nose CAN pick up those reall interesting Base Notes inherent in Male & Female Hormones...(Even with a lotta Deodorant On.) Sometimes without your Conscious Brain noticing it. What's Perceived is thus "An Attraction" (Or Aversion) to a particular person.
& it's about 99% Sure that The One You're Married To has Pheromones you like..on a Near-Daily Basis. (Never mind the cast-off Sweat Socks..heh-heh!)
I'd used "Mystery" several Verses later, anyways!
As for "Changes"...yeah, I'm maybe about 29 now in Mental Age...heh-heh!~ Still Pesterin' La Femme more'n Several Times a Week..so the Ancient Bod's Still got some Good Years Left in it...Last Time We Checked!~
Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Suggestions, M'Lady! Big Weekend Hugs, Stan

Stan, Three nits! 1)olfactric (It's olfacTIC) 2)pheromones Now, wouldn't you agree most people are not familiar with those words? 3)"eyes of blue"....thought that went out with Daisy (Bicycle built for two) Aside from that, a very witty and enjoyable smelling lyric. I must say, I think this one ("But Her "Special Something's" On Your Fingertips) slaps you right upside the head so's you don't need much imagination! Ben

G'Mornin' Lady V!
Might yet Change That Line...yet think Gals DO get attracted to a decent pair of Buns on a Regular Basis.
Totally Off-topic, Recommend Folks See a Movie filmed in Echo Park, L.A.---(Which I'm gonna mangle the Spanish on) "Quincineria"...all about a Spanish Gals "Coming of Age" Party. We saw it yesterday at a small Art Movie Theatre in Tampa's Hyde Park section..(& it's slated for Demolition, end of Month, alas..for Condos). Real Heart-Warming Flick, you'll Love It & Exit Misty-Eyed as well. (Some great Latin Music behind it, too!) Highly Recommended!~
I gotta scoot...Insurors gave me a Week to clean up Backyard of My Clock Shop Bldg..or else...& we got a lot to move back into the Garage there. Hurricane's expected to hit Tampa..50% chance..come Wed or Thurs..(So even if I DON'T have it all cleaned up, the Hurricane Insurance is in-place...heh-heh..& "Ernesto" will Finish The Job...Gulp!)
Thanks for your Kind Visit & Suggestion, Royal-D!~ Big Weekend Hugs, Stan

HiDee Bro Billy!
I allus enjoy tearin' into all that "Respectability" the Victorian Era saddled us with.
KNOW the Europeans have More Fun...they still have 2-hr Lunch Breaks so they can consort with their Lovers...before they gotta go home to "Respectability."
I'm fortunately, kinda Too-Elderly to wanna pursue Another Lover...but it's still fun to Advocate a Little Romantic Anarchy, time-to-time...while living Happily-Ever-After.
KNOW when we finally hit Bangkock (Sp?) I'll have some Interesting Viewpoints to write yas all about.
Science + Ancient Ethics = Modern Confusion.
& Lotsa Song Fodder~!
Thanks for the Very Kind Visit & Words! Happy Weekend & a Big Guy-Hug, Amigo!~ Stan

Good Aftynoon, Bro Ben!
I figgered if I was referrin' to "Olphactory" then I could get away with that "r" in there (If only cuz it Sings Better...heh!) If Steve Miller can get away with "Pompitus of Love"..I can still prolly get away with that "R"... ;-)>
2) "Pheromones" are All The Rage these days in the Perfume Biz, & Kids ARE very aware of that Word...Sells LOTS of Stuff to give ya that "Competitive Edge" in Mate-Selection. (See "SPRAY CAN SUCCESS STORY" Lyrics, posted earlier, for more Background on The Subject.)
3) I'll agree "Her Eyes of Blue" IS a truly-dated figure of speech...but SO is "Boop-Boop-a-Doop"..& "Low-Cut Gown" as well. There's a 20's "Feel" in the lyric to keep the Campiness Factor Alive-&-Kicking. Heck, even "Swing" is a Dated Exresssion, truth be told!
Thanks for your Kind Visit & "Catches" Amigo...(Was pretty sure I'd boo-booed on "OlfacTIC"..but so did FDR when he said "NormalCY"...& that gaffe made it into the Dictionary!~) Best Weekend Wishes & A Big Guy-Hug, Stan
