There's A Word
The dust in the air chokes and binds Without discrimination Falling from the sky And creeping in from every side
You can see the screams in their eyes But the voices stay silent Buried under fear Articulations of the lost
There's a word But it escapes me There's a word For all this sorrow There's a word There's a word
A life is spinning out of control And another and another Unraveling careful threads Woven by a haggard witch of fate
We are the sons of MacBeth The daughters of mayhem Content to sit and watch the hours In the haze of destruction
There's a word But it escapes me There's a word For all this sorrow There's a word There's a word
bridge I remember Nimrod I remember it like yesterday Now it falls again We are the victims of our vanity
There's a word But it escapes me There's a word For all this sorrow There's a word There's a word

Writers of the Elizabethan Renaissance unite!
I think this is good, heavy-duty stuff, Hobart. But I'm wondering what kind of tune and audience you have in mind??? Speaking of MacBeth, I can easily see this in the musical version!!! Ben ps Is your "Nimrod" the biblical one?

Hi Ben - thanks for your comments...yep...it is the biblical Nimrod. It's sort of a sideways reference to the tower of Babel. I had the Twin Towers on my mind when I was writing it.
Hiya John! Well...I been busy getting a divorce and losing about 70 lbs. This is probably the first lyric I've written in...oh...about a year. Sometimes life happens. No music yet. Just the words.
Man...it feels good to be here.
