The Girl From Beatle Land © words and music by Diane Rulliere and C. Stewart ( May 11, 2005 )
She claims she’s not a princess But she ain’t no plain Diane Diamond eyes that mesmerise I wanna be her man
Pretty flowers in her hair A ring on every finger There’s something in the way she moves Makes me want to linger
Chorus... She may not live in Liverpool But I wanna hold her hand This boy thinks she's kinda cool The girl from Beatle land
Wistful rhymes flow through her mind Of heartbreak and romance All she needs is melodies She love so much to dance
Sixties child with crazy dreams Grew up on rock & roll She floats across the universe With magic carpet soul
Chorus... She may not live in Liverpool But I wanna hold her hand This boy thinks she's kinda cool The girl from Beatle land
Chorus... She may not live in Liverpool But I wanna hold her hand This boy thinks she's kinda cool The girl from Beatle land

Diane and Calvin, I really, really like this! The chorus is fabulous. And your last verse really sums up the flavor of the time. I grew up in that era, and the era before (50's and 60's). Nicely done! Kudos and applause, as my dear friend, Dawg, would have said. Hello Alan,
It's always nice when you drop in for a visit. Thanks for your kindness. I'm smiling & I'm sure Diane is too. It was a fun song to do. Glad to see that you enjoyed it as much as we did. Have a great day.

Calvin, You have conflicting thoughts in your Chorus: She may not be from Liverpool But I wanna hold her hand This boy thinks she's kinda cool The girl from Beatle land If she's not from Liverpool, then she's not from "Beatle land", as that city is what set them apart from the London bands. If you want to stay with that title, I'd use references from other Beatles songs, maybe "Ticket To Ride" "All My Loving" "And I Love Her" "Another Girl" "Anytime At All" "Eight Days A Week" etc. ------------------ http://shayneman.proboards19.com/

Hello Rittster,
Thanks man, that's a nice compliment. C-dog & Di-Cat appreciate it. And just as soon as she returns from her Magical Mystery Tour, I'm sure she'll tell you the same thing.

Thanks for dropping in Shayne!
Calvin has always called me the girl from Beatle land - because I'm English, and live only 50 miles from Liverpool - I guess, as an American, he thinks of the whole of the UK as being Beatle land!

Diane</font> Wow, I'm impressed. My sister and I have always been big Beatles fans. As a matter of fact, this year we are flying to England to visit Abbey Road Studios, where the Beatles recorded. ------------------ http://shayneman.proboards19.com/

C and D, Brilliant, as my British friends would say! I love this and love the way you used Beatle references throughout the verses. Shayne may have a point with the chorus, although it didn't dawn on me until I read his response. I think you're right though, Diane, that a lot of us who live in the States, connect all of England with the Beatles, not just Liverpool. In any event, great job. A little more enjoyable than your turd chorus, Calvin!! Diane

Hello Diane E,
Thanks for stopping by the Beatle party ! We appreciate your wonderful comments. Yes, I connect "anyplace" in England with the Beatles. I personally think it works in the chorus like it is. I still can't believe the turd chorus didn't have you jumping with enthusiasm.
How about... Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dogs eye, that's even MORE colorful !
Thanks, this was a fun song to do.

Calvin,
Very interesting. You evoke a whole era with the Beatle Land reference. Good work here. People are the most facinating thing on the planet, IMO. I think that's why character study songs like this appeal to me.
Keep writing.

This title jumped right out at me, since I grew up listening to the Beatles I had a huge crush on Paul McCartney Your lyric is quite original and very clever. I love the way you wove in various references to the Beatles..! Great job! Emily [This message has been edited by Emily Sanders (edited 05-16-2005).]

Hi Emily,
Thanks for checking this one out. Your replys put a smile on my face. Me and the Brit Chic also grew up on the Beatles. You can thank her for the cleverness.
Watching them on Ed Sullivan was a pretty exciting thing. Then the next day at school, all the boys had their hair combed down in their face and the principal said over the intercom... Any boy who has a Beatle haircut, get to the bathroom and get it straightened out. Can you imagine..... When I look back at that statement, I'm freaked.

"She may not be from Liverpool"
Hello,
I have it in my head the -[be from]- could be easily changed to -[live in]- let us see how it looks as a statement:
"She may not live in Liverpool" But I wanna hold her hand This boy thinks she's kinda cool The girl from Beatle land...
Also notice that live matches Liverpool better...
Just trying to help some, S.L.

Good idea, Sharpe! Makes me want to get out the Beatles cd's today. I think everyone loves Diane. I wonder what cologne she wears? Ha! Hummmmm. I'll have to ask her. ------------------ "Shoot for the moon, and even if you miss, you will land among the stars." -- Les Brown http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/triciabakermusic.htm

Hello Sharpe,
Like Diane says....good eye ! I like your suggestion & we may use it it ya don't mind, I gotta ask the boss. -------------------------------------- Tricia...you shouldn't have to GET your Beatle cd's out..they should be already out & waiting to be played. Is there a finer melody than, And I love Her ? And then work your way right into Helter Skelter.

Calvin, That's great! Want you to know I like this! If anyone sets this to music I would like to hear it. I am a fan of The Beatles and anything Beatles related or oriented in their style.
Kudos to Calvin and Diane for a good write!

Hi Cal. I like the idea you have here. I thought the chorus was rather short. After reading the whole lyric I thought you could have used a lot more references to titles and lyrics of Beatle's song. Maybe you could come up with four more lines in your chorus to do this.

Hi Sharpe,
Yeh, I'm a die hard Beatle fan myself. I like the way it's sounding on paper, not sure how it would sound, if & when I got done with it, ha !

Hello Summeoyo,
Hope you're doing well today. Thanks for your comments & suggestions. At one point I even asked Diane if she thought we might have had TOO MANY Beatle references in it, she decided we should just lightly sprinkle them in & I agree. Although I think it would be EASY to add more & they could be enjoyable. Thanks for your suggestions.
ps.....I'm also curious about your screen name ?

Hi Cal. My screen name is also my stage name. It is pronounced "some yo-yo". I perform novelty songs. I still get a kick when I hear before a performance, "And here's 'some yo-yo'." My novelty songs as well as other songs I wrote are at: www.broadjam.com/Summeoyo
