Please let me invite all blues enthusiasts to the Blues Jam Concert Series, a free admission, day-long, outdoor blues concert featuring numerous artists and held in Newton, North Carolina. The concerts are on Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 1 PM to 10 PM. It's gonna be so blue it'll have you hurting — for more! The Blues Jam is an annual event that showcases some of the greatest regional names in blues music. We are talking a diverse selection of legends and locals. This year we are thrilled to have folks like Mac Arnold and Plate Full O' Blues. Mac is Muddy Waters' former bass player and a true blue legend from the Chicago circuit. Also, we have Elliott & the Untouchables from Columbia, SC, who had their latest album nominated Best Self-Produced CD in the International Blues Challenge. Tampa Blue is a curator of blues history as he and Snakebite Hoffman share his over 25 year touring experience peppered with the past. Contagious Blueband is a regional favorite that delivers blues in a modern wrapper. The guys have a crisp sound and a great stage presence. The Scott Jeffrey's Band is a local group that is really making a name for themselves. DNDA is excited about this line up. Downtown Newton is proud to be the regional home for the blues in Western North Carolina. Please come out for a day filled with concerts that illustrate the rich tapestry of the blues.

The Blues Jam Concert Series is accented by the NewtonFest cultural fair, featuring artists, craftspeople, gardeners, KidFest (kids playground with games and rides), FoodFest (home-style fair food), The Garden (featuring premium beer on tap and wine tasting from two local wineries) & more.
