uh....read the manual?
If you don't have one, call Roland and get one.

Manuals are the genius's ways of having things to laugh about when they get together.
Tascam's manual for my friend's recorder is the same way. Jumps all over the place and assumes we know a lot of tech stuff already. But I know better,,,,they know what we don't know, and love every minute of their laughs.
UKA, I would go back to the store, and get a keyboard player/salesperson to go over the basics from step one, (with YOUR keyboard you will take back). I once did that and got 2 hours of in-depth help and recording tracks done and even edited, after I told them I would like my money back and am returning this thing I can't figure out. 2 hours! The guy wanted to keep his commission I guess

They have alot of manuals there too. There were quite a number of them for the Fantom.

I don't use Roland, but I have been seriously considering checking out their line.
What would any of you members suggest I could get at mid price?
Matt

Matt,
It depends on what functions you want on a keyboard.... do you arranger features? fo you just need good sounds, are you going to do a lot of in-depth programming, do you need on-board recording features? all of these need to be considered for the keyboard you buy. I really know Korgs better so if you had a Korg question I could help you in your decision.
