Hey all. I'm looking for input on a decent MIDI controller for live use. Doesn't hafta' have weighted keys, nor does it need to be a full 88. I use an old Yamaha PF-85 for the 88-weighted stuff (don't laff, I know it's old, but it's the only board I've never broken a key on...always there, a real workhorse!). Right now, I'm using an SY-77 as a second rig. I used to use a bunch of the sounds on it, but more recently have gotten a couple of modules that I like better. I'd like to keep the SY-77 at home and buy a relatively inexpensive controller for the modules, since I don't need the SY-77 sounds anymore. 61 keys should be fine, since I mainly use it for organ, strings, and other pad-like sounds. Saw the MAudio Radium 61-key controller for $199 at zzounds and thought it looked pretty respectable. Any experience with this or other rigs to recommend? Thanks in advance! --doug ------------------ ========================= Doug P. Lamb Trip Daddy Records www.TripDaddyRecords.com =========================

Doug- How much $$$ do you wish to spend? I use synth's playing and recording my songs and am pretty much up on most keys. Are you looking for a "CONTROLLER" keyboard specifically? Or a good keyboard to use as one? Look up Fatar controller keyboards on the internet. They have a whole array of boards. In some of the mail-order catalogs, or on-line e-bay, you can get one new or used for a great price. (or any board for that matter) On e-bay if you enter synthesizer, then view the auctions , click on seller, and a lot of them are store's, who have the lowest price's. musiciansfriend.com www.americanmusical.com Studiologic has a 88 key model for about $299 per Musicians Friend. Get some catalogs/compare prices. You can't go wrong with Roland, or Yamaha. Good Luck Cal P.S I couln't find FATAR's web-site, but they have an large selection of controllers. Hey Cal, Thanks for the input, my friend! I went ahead and bought the M-Audio that I mentioned, and have been pleased with its performance. At only 8 pounds, it won't take a beating, but it's not meant to. Working great with my modules. BTW, Fatar and StudioLogic are the same company, or at least owned by the same company. Fatar's just a step down from their top-end stuff (kinda' like Fender and Squier, etc.) Thanks again, and I appreciate the help! --doug ------------------ ========================= Doug P.
