While I am primarily a Bass Player, I just received a Kawai full size keyboard as a gift. While I took some piano lessons as a child, I mostly play by ear.
I have always been interested in the music of the Doors and I was wondering if anyone on this board knows where I can find an accurate transcription to "Light My Fire".
I figured that the song is working on an A Minor and F# Minor chording but I just can't seem to get the intro.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary

Actually Gary, an alternative might be the following: There are plenty of midi files out there you can buy for "Light My Fire" as a complete replication of the original recording... Then get Powertracks by PG Music, costs $29 dollars... So, what does powertracks do for you? It will play back on a keyboard in the computer any track you select... So, you can slow down the tempo, and since it's a midi file, it won't affect the pitch.. And on the keyboard you can see exactly what notes are being played... And you can do this for any tune you want to learn in the future... You can get the whole version, note for note of "Light My Fire", from www.midi-hits.com for $6.95... So, just an alternative suggestion... www.123writemelody.com ------------------ www.mp3.com/paulradelat

Paul,
Thank you for the advice. I am also very impressed with your two websites. The graphics, content and overall layout are so well done.

Just saw this going through, and couldn't resist telling my learning that intro and the long version lead on,,,,get this,,,,,,,the accordian!
Right after learning it, (the release month of that song), I got an organ from my parents. I played it on there for a week straight, then the drummer for the best high school band in our county heard I learned that song and I got a tryout. I replaced the organ player because I was the only kid to be able to play that song all the way through!
Had the disease ever since, with some time off, but am back at it again! Just not playing Light My Fire now. I can fake it OK, but just never take the time to really nail it again.

Funny,,,,cause we played that too! The 18 minute one! The great guitar playing was done by a 17 year old! Loved the drums too. Sounds of instruments we don't hear anymore. Musicality was rich then,,,,with exploration the fuel, besides some other stuff some were taking.
Those two songs were more than half a set!
Man, hearing those two songs in my head now brings back the times when I played in the Catskills at a ski lodge for five weekends in a row rented by various college kids during the winter of '69/'70! I was a junior in HS. LOTS of stories that was like a coming of age movie for me, seeing and finding out things for the first time.
Let's jam away Steve!
John
