i met up with a guy about a year ago with a friend of mine who was having some buzzing with his Taylor, we went to a guy named John LaVan, he's a taylor specialist in Nashville TN. He's fixed guitars for bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Garth Brooks and many more, he's the only guy i've ever met that can take a splinterd neck, and fix it so you'de never tell in another thirty years, ANYWAYS in his shop i found a Intellitouch tuner, this tuner basically clamps on to your headstock and tunes off the vibrations of your guitar, it tunes best off of harmonics. It has bright red display so to see your tunings in the pitch dark, and other instruments don't interfere cause the tuner won't pick them up. Now i paid $54.00 for mine, but i tried it out before i bought it, and it's great. It runs off of two coin cell batteris, i bought it last april have yet to change the batteries, and it still tunes to 1 cent to perect, it's a great tuner go get one.

How is this for a timely response? Anyway, I too have this tuner, the intellitouch that clamps on and I love it. It doesn't really fit on my PRS electric because of the headstock design but I have used it for 2 years on my acoustic until recently it stopped working, I changed the batteries and that didn't help so I just kept pushing the power button and after some time it came on(and by some time I mean frantically obsessively pressing it for about 3 minutes straight) Now it seems to work if I press the button a dozen times or so... Anyone else have this tuner, had this happen and have a solution?

I just bought one of these (the one with the backlit display) at the recent NAMM show from the Intellitouch booth. They had a "NAMM Special" and I got it for $40 with a nice carrying case.

I works great on my acoustics and even works well on my Les Paul.

The only issue I've had with it so far is that the clamp may not fit on every single guitar because of the shape of the headstock. You probably don't want to leave it on your Strat while you dance around the stage, either. However, it certainly is the most accurate tuner I own.

As far as the power on/off button not working well...I believe it's a contact type switch and you can either send it back to Intellitech for cleaning or buy some contact cleaner and try spraying it. They may be able to recommend a cleaner for you if you send them an email or call them.

Excellent idea! I will contact them. Yeah, as far as everything else with it goes, this thing rocks!

Be very careful with it. The hinge is quite fragile. I have one and it works fine but damaged the hinge one day just adjusting it to an angle so I could see the screen better.

fyi: In case you guys ever have this problem, the following was the companies solution:
"Open the battery door, take out the batteries, bend up the two metal tabs that the batteries sit on. Look at the metal jumper that is on the battery door. It should be curved and not flat. If it is flat, support it in the middle of the jumper (where it is attached to the door)and bend up on both ends to restore the curve. You must support it in the middle, other wise you may pop the jumper off the door. Then put the batteries back in. With the clamp to your left, the left battery should go in with the + side down, and the battery on the right should go in with the + side up."

A few years ago I purchased a Sabine Tuner, the kind that sticks on your guitar. In the 50 to 60 dollar range. I bought 2 QUICK TUNE Tuners for my grandsons from Musician's Friend for Christmas, about $14.00 ea. Nice Tuners. They show which string you are tuning when you strum the string. Not lighted tho. There are a couple of Fender tuners in the catalog, 19.99 that look pretty good also. One features a lighted meter. You can plug a guitar chord into the Quick Tune Tuners to tune an Electric.

An updated note.

I contacted Intellitouch about the floppy issue and they replied within 15 minutes. It may have been considerably less but I shut down the mail program. They sent out a new swivel assembly at no charge, with no questions asked. That on an instrument that was several years old, and I let them know that it was an old unit.
You just don't see customer service and awareness like that too often these days and says alot about the quality of the service and that should translate to the quality of the product.

I'll buy another product for them

If you're looking for the Best and Coolest looking display then the Strobe tuners will win hands down. However, they are very pricey. But worth every cent.

Peterson Virtual Strobes are good enough to intonate with. The intellitouch is soooo easy to use. The Boss TU-2 is very cool as well, bulletproof construction. The only drawback w/ the TU-2 I found is that it's difficult to read in daylight.
That sounds dumb, what I mean by daylight is in Sunlight on a stage the thing is unreadable.
