Hi all! Just read Brian's 12/13/03 JP Notes and happened upon the member success stories. I'm happy to report that I've had a few successes of my own over the past 15 months. First, I was privileged to place one of my original songs, "All That Might Have Been," in a PBS/FRONTLINE documentary called "Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero." The documentary, by award-winning producer/director Helen Whitney, aired nationally, first on 9/11/02 and again, this year, on 9/11/03. The opportunity came about because I'd met Helen Whitney at an event in NYC in March of 2002. When she mentioned her documentary, then in-progress, I got up the courage to tell her about my song, which I thought would be a nice fit with her doc. She almost refused to accept my demo, saying she never used vocal music in her films and that she had a strong preference for classical music. I gently persevered and she graciously agreed to listen. About a month later, I got a message on my phone machine from Helen. In it, she spoke glowingly of my song and said she intended to find a place for it in her film, regardless of what it took. She did, in fact, make good on that! My second success involved my one and only Christmas song, "Moonlight and Mistletoe." In 2001, I was introduced to soap star Eileen Fulton by her music director/pianist, Vinnie Martucci, with whom I'd done work on demos. Vinnie presented my song to Eileen and, soon after, she decided to include it on her Christmas 2002 CD. In fact, she also made it the title cut! I am, needless to say, very grateful to both Eileen and Vinnie for this opportunity. Incidentally, Eileen will include my song in her cabaret show in NYC this weekend. Best holiday wishes to all--and let the music sing!

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
