This is a note with a couple of links for Deborah Henson-Conant. She's the wild lady with the electric harp I mentioned during the Improv/Jam Clinic at December's meeting. My favorite album is 'Altered Ego', which IMHO has possibly the most beautiful song ever written (The Nightingale) and a fun piece that's otherwise known as The Birthday Song (Congratulations, You've Made it This Far). It's a great example of her versatility. Wish you could hear Beck's Blues at the cdbaby site. She really makes that electro harp sound like a guitar and bends those notes for all they're worth! If someone has a laptop with Quicktime Movie Player on it (and folks are interested), I'll bring the new artist's proof, enhanced CD I just got into the next meeting and you can see her in action! She sings (great voice too), she cavorts, she plays....she cracks me up! She turns everything you've come to think about the harp on it's head and then some. Ed Siegel of the Boston Globe wrote, ".. a combination of Leonard Bernstein, Steven Tyler, and Xena the Warrior Princess .." http://www.hipharp.com/index.shtml - DHC The Website http://cdbaby.com/cd/dhc3 - Altered Ego (you can get to her other CD's under TRY THIS further down to the left of the page). If you're ever in the Boston area, check out her gig calendar first. Coincidentally, and in keeping with the improv/jam clinic (how timely is that?), DHC also has a book entitled: "Introduction to Improvisation and "Vamps for Improvisation" + CD (see under the ORDERS link up top). The package has special instructions for harp players, but it can be used for ANY instrument, from the ukelele to the saxophone! It's on my Christmas wish list......John? Enjoy! Donna :-)

ADDENDUM: I didn't get the info back in time to include with the last announcement, but anyone interested in purchasing Deborah Henson-Conant CD's at her special mailing list promo price ($10 per CD and/or 4 for the price of 3) can do so by signing up for the mailing list and using the code words: "Cyberfan Special." Since you can obviously send in and order with “CyberFan Special” in the “How to Get CDs Signed” box and NOT join the mailing list, this is on the honor system (meaning, please sign up for the mailing list), but because this is all so last minute, you can get $10 CDs by ordering from the website –www.hipharp.com – and putting “CyberFan Special” in the “How to Get CDs Signed” box. http://www.hipharp.com I'm not sure if this is good only until Christmas or through the end of the month or what, so I wouldn't wait, if you're interested.
