Horses and Camels
Joe'd steal his daddy's pony, grab a pack of smokes and ride off in the desert, far from his folks he'd stay out past sundown, 'neath the Texas skies where the tips of his Camels, glowed like fireflies
Joe dreamed of riding, that big tme rodeo same as his dad once did, forever ago but working for his father, somehow held him fast and one by one his chances, blew away like ash
cos horses and Camels were all he really loved and it haunted him, that what might've been is all there ever was yeah, horse and Camels were all he really loved
his father's back was crooked, and his knees were gone so he did his best keepin', Joe from busting broncs so Joe just shuffled papers, riding time behind a desk days of regret and dreaming, were his only risk
but when he saw the doctor, 'bout his nagging cough that night he reined a pony, and just rode off silver smoke rings floated, off toward barren trees just like ghostly horseshoes, hanging in the breeze
cos horses and Camels were all he really loved and it haunted him, that what might've been is all there ever was yeah, horse and Camels were all he really loved
the rodeo hit Houston, and Joe rode at high noon but just like his life had, the bronc bucked him too soon he dusted off his Stetson, held a smoke beneath his nose breathing his dreams deeply, before they go
cos horses and Camels were all he really loved and it haunted him, that what might've been is all there ever was yeah, horse and Camels were all he really loved

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
