Kind of like "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay". I've always admired people who are good at doin' nothin'. I've never been good at it, always gives me an "ill-at-ease" feeling. I "should" on myself, like I just know there's SOMETHING I should be doing. I've heard that the Greeks are good at doing nothing and they live longer than us as a result. I enjoyed reading this little piece of your world.

Ahhh, that sounds wonderful. I'm good at doing nothing, but I only rarely get to do so. Spending this whole weekend cleaning out my old apartment in hopes we might get the deposit back (yeah right). This is probably a little too personal to be anything commercial, but it's fun. And those Amberbocks sound tasty right about now... 'cept it's a few hours too early, lol.

You poor folks with that guilt honed work ethic... There is a saying that Americans live to work and Europeans work to live. And Stan, I guess that (climb) gets you onto the roof Glad its still there after Charlie. Much destruction around where my parents had their Fla. home. A lot of their friends had their homes severely damaged. Lounge on!
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Tampa
kinda reminds me of an old Steinfeld show, where they decide to do a show about "nothing" hilarious stuff. I liked this, but maybe too many bird references....
note to John, when i lived in norway that was the first thing i noticed, they work to live; but i've always been that way, so no culture shock there; hell got myself down to a twenty four hour work week!!!!

HiDee Y'All!
I confess I don't (yet) Often get in the "2 Hours" of "Nothin'" mentioned in The Song..but I'm Workin' On It--
So far today, tho, it's been Bury the Goldfish that expired last nite..he's now doin' Ficus Exotica Duty..& cleanin' out the 1880's Aquarium he foulled up. (Which ended up with a big Scratch on LaFemme's Formica Kitchen Counter..& perhaps Yet Another GREAT Reason to head up to the Pottin' Shed Gettaway later today, eh?)
"Junior's" Birthday Bash turned into a VERY Late-Arrival..he ate Supper with us about 1/2 Hour, Thanked us for the Gift AAA Membership, skipped the Cake & off he went into the night. "Other Plans"... We Understand--Hey, We're Old Folks Now.
Waal, I gotta head back to the Shop & hunt for my Missing Cel..might drag 2 Potted Palms back to the New Digs & add 'em to The Jungle-in-the-Makin'..or I just Might Do ABSOLUTELY NOTHIN' for the Rest of This Sunny Sunday!
Just got an Email which Guarantees BOARD TWO has successfully Donated Enough for Us to get BOBBIE GALLUP her RT Plane Ticket from Nashville-to-L.A. for the JPF Awards Show. I need those "Pledges" sent in to me by Next Friday, Amigos...& IF you haven't yet heard of "PROJECT BOBBIE", email me at SGoodClocksFans@webtv.net or Call Me at (813)-240-0301...{Hopefully I'll have found my cel by then...Gulp!} We still got her Hotel Room & Meals to go, & it's a Great Opportunity to Prove we really ARE "All in this Together"--
Big Thankful Hugs, Evabody, Stan

Hi Stan,
Good job of conveying the vibe!
Where did I think you could make it stronger ?
(CHORUS) Watchin' The Sun Goin' Over the Roof
Which roof, the main house, the roofs of the town? Either way, the line could be stronger . . . even if "roof and 2" changes. . .
Watching the sun roll across the sky Doin' absolutely nothing The birds and the beers and I
This line is a little "pedestrian" Stan:
"So I'll Prepare to Make The Scene"
Cheers, Terry

Stan, this is a really good song. I like the "Seinfeldic" attitude--there aren't songs about doing absolutely noting, and we needed one.
I would have a little chat with your Muse, though. Waking you up in the middle of the night to write a song about Nothing is a little out of line. Couldn't she/he/it have woken up The Kid instead (teenagers don't need sleep to begin with, and they're usually awake at 2 a.m. anyway, unlike Old Codgers like me), and made *him* write it down and call you in the morning at a decent hour?
I didn't mind the references to all the birds at all. One is a product of one's environment, after all, and y'all's environment down there in the Tropics just happens to include lots of brightly-colored birds. Up here, the environment includes tons of four-footed edible creatures (deer and elk are considered two of the Essential Food Groups).

Hey Mr. Stan,
I'm one that is really good if not an expert on doing nothing so I immediately was drawn to the top of the pottin' shed. I could stay there A while!
I love that there are a few lyrics right now on this board mentioning the wives, which are really why we keep going sometimes or need the get-a-way?
Really enjoyed this,if you get a chance check out my trib to mine, I'll send ya' a link if your interested. It was a while back on board 1 but I've had fun with it.
Now Take a little time and Do ABSOLUTELY nuthin'
