Thanks to all who gave feedback on this one (original first posted 2/15- page 4). Here's the re-write (so far, anyway). If anyone would like to hear the melody, I'll be performing it (and others) live Friday night in a Webcast from Kulak's Woodshed in LA. 8:00 PST. Tune in/details at WWW.KulaksWoodshed.com. Thanks! JUST A SIMPLE SONG © 2003 Craig Lincoln. All rights reserved. JUST A SIMPLE SONG – A melody... a couple chords... Then the music’s gone And you got nothin' left but words Words alone just can't be trusted ...Should've known it all along It really doesn’t matter It’s JUST A SIMPLE SONG Just a simple lie – I said I wasn’t and I was I’ve got no alibi I told that story just because... But when you first start lyin' Sometimes you can't admit you're wrong But it really hardly matters It’s JUST A SIMPLE SONG Just two simple words – “I’m sorry.” Nothing more. Guess I'll grab the hat I left hangin' by your door Words alone can’t heal the distance When the bridge is burned and gone That’s really all that matters It’s JUST A SIMPLE SONG.

It al slips along real nice Craig. Thing for me is. I can't figure why. It doesn't seem to say a heck of a lot of anything. I guess that is in keeping with the lyric though. It is in fact just words. A too simple song maybe. Graham ------------------ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/grahamhendersonmusic.htm

Ahh, thanks, Graham. I appreciate your honesty.
It's for sure not a story song. It works pretty well for me, and I know several folks I've played it for have "gotten" it. No critique of your 'listening' implied. It doesn't work for you, and probably won't for others. I'm thinking maybe the words can't really tell the story outside of the musical context, or the performance. Anyway, thanks so much for your effort & feedback. You're kind.
