Why the question mark you ask? Tell me what would you do? Thanks Trudi Kassie Come Home © 2002 Trudi F. Cross v1 Her phone call came about three A.M. I heard the desperation in her voice Mom, it’s Kassie, please… just listen Calling you was a difficult choice I was drinking late into the night I nearly drove my car off the road I’ve been thinking out on route two Telling you just might ease my load Chorus Then I heard myself say Taxi’s on the way Kassie come home It’ll be okay Kassie come home Tomorrow’s a new day Kassie honey… please… come home V2 But mom it’s not that easy now I have something to tell…you don’t know Mom, a baby is living inside me This isn’t how I wanted life to go I can’t make it on my own I know I let you and daddy down I’m so sorry, can I please… come home? She went silent didn’t make a sound Chorus And I heard myself say Taxi’s on the way Kassie come home It’ll be okay Kassie come home Tomorrow’s a new day Kassie honey… please… come home Bridge She stayed on the line ‘til the taxi came She had dialed the wrong number But then one could argue that mom was my name My husband had called the taxi Said he would pay just to get her home I hung up the phone we went to Maggie’s room Should this ever happen to her, We hoped any parent would do the same Pre chorus That night I prayed Kassie made it home That mom wouldn’t let her go it alone And I thanked God I answered the phone Chorus And I heard myself say Taxi’s on its way Kassie come home It’ll be okay Kassie come home Tomorrow’s a new day Kassie honey… please… come home Add: Kassie made it home Pam didn’t let her go it alone And she thanked God I answered the phone Now you know why I asked what would you do?

Trudi, I`d say you had the perfect answer. Took me a couple of reads to totally grasp exactly what happened...but I`m thick at times. Might be a tad long, but it tells the story well. Nice one. Dano. ------------------ www.angelfire.com/music3/danolyrics

I think this is a great start to a wonderful song...
Reading it like it is feels ok but in truth i think it's a few lines long for a song...
I'd be doing some trimming on this one..
Don't change the story a lick tho..it's perfect !
Bob

OOoops Sorry Bob Almost forgot you. I know it is long but I am unsure where and what to trim. I will play with it and see what I can do... each part of the lyric is integral to the stroy for me... if you have any suggestions please feel free to say... Many thanks Trudi

Fine 3-Hankeys-Worther here...
Might condense the bridge a Scosh, re Bob's comments...
"KUDOS" Overall...GREAT Sentiment! Big Hugs, Stan

Got me some of them goosebumps, Trudi. Is this is a true story? Work at it, Trudi, get it just right. Could be one of those standard tearjerkers we hear on the radio, like that song about the little girl whose parents abused her, daddy shot the mama, the little girl goes to foster care.... you know, the one where she ends up in Sunday school. This lyric made me think of that song. Take care, Tink

great story Trudi...really got me with your twist. I think Graham is right about the bridge being an area to trim:
SHE HAD DIALED THE WRONG NUMBER BUT MY NAME IS MOM TOO WONDERING WHAT IF IT HAD BEEN MY DAUGHTER HELPED ME DECIDE WHAT I SHOULD DO
You could also get away with shortening the chorus to
Then I heard myself say Taxi’s on the way Kassie come home It’ll be okay Kassie come home
and saving your full version for the last chorus.
Just some ideas Its worth working on!
Ray

I see I get a mention here so better say something. That is the area I was pondering some and Eddie's suggeatio works. My thought ws it feels like it want to be a litle clreare the singer is a friend of the mom and wa s privey to the hasles they were having. If it can be done without lengthening it would be a good out to have the singer cal the mom and tell her her dauter wsa coming home. Nice though as is. REgards. HI Stan thank you for stopping by again. I will work on the length and then repost later. Back at yah! Trudi Hi Tink, Thanks for checking this one out. It is based on a chicken souper I just loved, so it is mostly true. Thank you for the complimnet but I'm not sure I'm in the ranking of John Micheal Montgomery I hope to find someone to put this to music when I get it shorted. Many thanks Trudi

HI Ray, Thank you thank you! The chorus shortening I love. The bridge is tough it tells a lot but I will see what I can do to shorten it. Many thanks for you advice Trudi Hey Graham Thanks for the visit. The idea is the singer knew the mom but didn't know till later that she did. it's one of those things you do a good deed find out later it was for someone you knew. I'm working on the shortening Cheers from Canada Trudi
