Stan,
Very clever...and unfortunately it's one that I can relate to. (except for having someone else to grow old WITH at the moment LOL)
Certainly this topic is one that a large portion of listeners can empathize with and should have a lot of appeal...in fact I've wondered before why so few have tackled the "growing old gracefully" angle.

Thankee Chris!
Waal..as I turn the Pages-Past-55, I sorta HAVE no Choice but TO "Age Gracefully" (WITH a Bit of Kickin'-&-Screamin'...heh-heh!) as I watch my 25 & 18-yr old Sons makin' the Same Mistakes as Me...and my Wife shakin' her head at All 3 of Us!
There IS this "Awareness" that comes over anyone with a Modicum of Geological Understanding that a Million Years actually IS a Mere "Drop in the Bucket" in "The Sands of Time" (To pretty well Scramble a pair of Metaphors!)...& a Human Lifespan ain't any thicker than the thickness of a Leaf in them Stone Outcroppings.
Hopes ya find that Sig Other--they helps ya Thicken that Banda Coal by a Scosh, I been Told...(Probably by Some OTHER Married Person..so maybe I Should Be Skeptical, Eh?) :-)>
Big Thanks for the Kind Feedback! Big Weekend Guy-Hugs, Stan

Hi Stan!
This is darling. I am glad you use lots of capitals because my fossil -eyes need a lot of help. This is a song I can relate, to, no bones about it. The verse about the snail is cute.

HI Cody!
WISH I Had a "Staff"...got so MANY that just sit here, Un-demoed! For me, Writin's like Takin' a Dump...Happens DAILY, then "Normal Life" Moves On...heh-heh!
The IDEAS are literally EVERYWHERE, just "Tune In" and LORDY, there's ANOTHER Title! (I owe Big G for "IF I HADN'T MARRIED {I'D HAVE STARVED TO DEATH}"...fresh offa the Feedbacks today!)
This One got 3-4 Rewrites, but Usually it's a 15-Minute Process 'cuz there's Not Much Time TO Rewrite! Kinda SHOWS Sometimes, Don't It? ;-)>
Waal, Big Thanks for the Kind Feedback, Best Wishes to You & Granny! Big Hugs, too! Stan

Thankee Sis!
Bobbie gets the "Take a Bow" for Smoothing Out many a Line, and those 2 Now-Much-Softer Lines that begin "You Bring Sunshine to my Days"...
I somehow ALWAYS start diggin' up ROCKS whenever I get Out West. (Partly 'cuz we got Mostly SAND down here in Fla., and Partly 'cuz my Biological Dad WAS a Geologist Out West...Gov't Map of the Silver River Area in Idaho STILL Bears his Name!) Poor Gene's trunk had an Extry 40 Pounds of 'Em This Trek...
WAS Thinkin' about a "Trilobite"...but "Snail" is much more Identifiable to Today's Audience, heh-heh! (Hey, didya know the FIRST Snails with Shells had STRAIGHT, Conical Shells..and it took EONS for them to learn How to Coil Them...and Geologists use that "Trick" to DATE Certain Strata?)
You don't wanna get me Started on BIG Print..heh-heh!
Thanks for the Kind Words, Kind Lady! Big Weekend Hugs, Stan

Well, Stan, it's well-said..ye ole' fossil! Kind of noted a "softer" touch on this one. The ease with which you write lyrics...like taking a dump? And you got trouble getting them all demoed...something's not normal here, haven't you always heard that a dump is always preceded by a whistle(warning something comin' on through) Now he says, she is a fossil, a naughty one needing covered up by lotsa shale and coal and whatever else, maybe some lava even....

HIya Sharon!
How's my Favorite Critic doin' Tonight?
While I'm CERTAINLY Not Out to Besmirch the Writing Profession..heh-heh...I find Writing One-a-Day to be my "Natural Regularity" and as Natural an Occurrence as ANY of the Many Bodily Functions. (Few of Which produce any agreeable "Product", other than "The Mind"...when ya Really Think of it..{Last Heh-heh for awhile!})
Naw..DON'T even HINT "She's a FOSSIL"-- (Tho we're admittedly In-Process-of- BECOMING-One)... Really, the Message is 1)This WAS a "Dead Planet" for a LONG Time 2)This is OUR Chance to LIVEN UP the Joint a BIT...WHATEVER Your Age Really IS! 3) With any LUCK, you'll have lived Well-ENOUGH you'll be Memorable when the Later "Excavators" sift thru Whatever they gotta dig through to find "the REAL You!" Early PS: (That SNAIL was LUCKY--most are Crushed as the Sediments get Laid Down & Glacial Periods grind away Lots More of "Those who Are Left"...)
I had a Buddy, now Deceased, whose Favorite Let's-Go-To-Bed Line was "NOBODY's Gonna CARE a Hundred Years from Now..." (Had a pretty Happy Life, too, now that I Reflect Back a Bit!)
We ALL Live in an Era where a Nuclear "Pompei" is a Heartbeat Away...so "LIVE IT", I allus Say! (Whistles & All..heh-heh!)
Thanks for keepin' me On My Toes... Big Hugs, Nice Lady! Stan

Hey, Stan. I'll never understand your one-a-day thing, to be honest with ya. Lord knows if I wrote a lyric a day, I'd have quite a few mediocre lyrics. As for this one, it's not bad, but the verses and chorus didn't mesh together as well as it seems they should. All in all, this looks like another semi-good semi-novelty lyric to me. Semi-kudos, then...? Anthony P.S.: See you at Pineyfest next month! Anya took a trip to Florida by herself last month, so I'm travelin' solo to Nashville and points west.

HIya Anth!
Semi-Great to hear from ya...(Just Kiddin', Amigo!) :-)>
What can I say, I'm just like Detroit, I keep Bangin' 'Em Out! Some are Limos, Some are Compacts...
Some ARE admittedly Lemons, but even Lemons Occasionally Sell, and (Surprise) I'm still partially in this Biz to Make some Loot (Besides chasing Strange Women and Destinations 'till I'm Too Damn Old fer it!)
Anyways, like Detroit, when I perceive "An Opening to Be Filled" I whip up the Next Lambourghini or Edsel & "Away We Go...."
Been reflectin' a lot on Jim Stafford's "SPIDERS & SNAKES" Song...It's his Biggest Hit, probably worthy of the Same Critique "Fossils" garnered from ya...YET the man's Pyramided that little "Audience Connection" into a nice little "Empire" out there in Branson.
And Evabody's gotta Start "Somewhere"..heh-heh!
Hey, Amigo, I just saw The Front Porch Swing, in Situ, a couple days ago...and you Guys & Gals are In For a Treat!!! (Bobbie assured me the Hooks are in Solid Timber, so You can Swing Yer Buns Off!) Even Ernie the Cat got a Li'l Haircut for the Occasion!
Hey, thanks for the Totally Honest Feedback on a Baby that didn't completly Grab Ya! Plotline Does meander a Bit...I confess...
Ah Well...a Hupmobile now-&-then never hurt anybody too badly..I hope!
Big Guy-Hugs & Thanks for the Honesty, Amigo! Will be Great to Meetcha, in the Flesh, at the Shindig! (Hope you'll Autograph my T-Shirt, OK???) 'Nuther Guy-Hug, Stan

Well Stan...
I'm so glad that the fact I'm turning into an old codger for whom things like firm bowel movements are treasured memories..gave you inspiration !
It's true..you do crank 'em out !
There must be a market for "adult" music like you and I write..God knows theres enought of us !

Good Eve, Youngster!
Hey, I sorta take pride that I CAN write a Song about Just About Anything.
Some folks Jog...Do Pushups...Swim Laps. I prefer Crankin' One Song a Day Out. (Better my MIND stays Young..heh-heh!)
As for "The Market"...Yep, It's There. Too bad the Radio Programmers think us Boomers only want recycled Hits & "Familiar Artists"...but you & I CAN "Break The Mold" with a Few CD Sales/Good Promo.
I've kept the College Market in mind, too...this Lyric doesn't JUST speak to the Elderly, y'know. Most of them Collegiates take a little Geology 101, so they'll hopefully Tune In...
Waal, Gotta Scoot...Final Mixdown Tonight, Thanks to Sellin' a GFC at Webster today generatin' the Studio Loot. It's almost like The Deity wants me to Finish this Project "On Schedule!" :-)>
Our Manager's already got the CD to be Placed in every Waffle House Juke Box in Florida by Next Weekend, is workin' on Tampa Radio Stations this week. La Femme oughta be Impressed by Next Week...Targets include a Christian Station, 2 FM "Mixes" and a Country Station or Two. Ah, the Joys of Writing the "Ecclectic Song" and Indie Distribution! (ANY Airplay beats NO Airplay, Eh?) ;-)>
Gotta Scoot, La Femme's got the Sphagetti in a Flexible State!
Thanks for the Kind Words, Big Guy Hug, See Ya at The Porch, Stan

Goes along good. Stan. Liked the snail thing a lot. believe it would be even better if you went for togetherness rather than the laying down bit and it's implications. Hey. That is why u8s rea editors use a blue pencil Sta. Stare at red all day and your goin't blind for sure. REgards. Graham. Thanks Big G!
I'm Real Fond of this Hook...since it's So True!
Bobbie actually Axed my "Laying Down" line in an Earlier Verse..& I liked it enuf to Resurrect it in the Tag...for what it's worth. (Heck, we ARE Talkin' Geology here...heh-heh!) But, yeah, it's Easily-Snipped for whatever Artit'd Consider Cuttin' it.
Gotta Scoot to the Session Tonite...But BIG Thanks for the Kind Words. Big Guy-Hug, Stan
