Hi Folks, We are working on launching Just Plain Folks Chapters in key geographic and populated areas around the US. We currently don't have a coordinator volunteer for this city and would love to hear from anyone who is interested in helping launch a chapter here. There is a detailed list of the requirements needed to be a coordinator as well as info on our philosophy on what the local chapters can do for your musician community. Please take a look at all this on our chapter page at this link: http://www.jpfolks.com/Chapters/index.html If you are able to meet the requirements and interested in getting involved, please email us and let us know. Also, please post a note here. Ideally we'll have multiple people who want to help out, but the minimum requirements aren't difficult or time consuming and only require consistency and a true desire to help out. We hope to visit all the active chapters in North America in 2005 or 2006 during our Roadtrips. This will include local showcases and inclusion in our documentary project, but we need to get everyone organized to get the ball rolling before we visit. Thanks in advance for your help! I would love to be of any assistance! However, I live in eastern, oregon, and am in the portland area 2 to 3 times a week. So, as a full time thing, no I couldn't.. but would help out in any way I could otherwise. I would really like to see the ball start rolling in Oregon! This could be really good for all of us!
By the way, anyone interested in booking in eastern oregon drop me a line I know of a few good venues. Jerrod

Jerrod: I live in Union, which makes me almost a next-door neighbor as they count distance over here. Been here since September, and looking for opportunities to play with other people. I also have to go through Pendleton every other weekend or so en route back to the Coast to see my fambly. Some samples of what I do when I'm not playing with a band are on my Soundclick site: www.soundclick.com/bands/7/joewrabekmusic.htm. I know a bunch of covers, too. If you're interested in meeting, let me know. Nice to know there's another musician out this way. Joe

Jerrod,
I drove across Oregon between Boise and Portland.. it was some amazing country out there but I didn't see much in the way of population or towns. What cities/towns would someone look at to tour through on their way East or West?

Brian: The Big Cities over here, east to west, are Ontario (on the Idaho border), Baker City, La Grande, Pendleton, and The Dalles. All are in the 10,000-or-slightly-over range. La Grande has a university and is supposed to be a hotbed of bluegrass music (however, I've been here since Sepatember and have met only a handful of musicians); The Dalles, Pendleton, and Ontario all have junior colleges. My brother lives in Baker City, OR.
I'm in the Portland area. I've received the newsletter for some time. I translate songs from Romanian to English. These are Christian songs. I also update old English hymns. I'd like to connect with someone who has translated songs or who needs Christian songs to sing (Pop or Country style).
