Hi Everyone: Thought I'd pass this on. The director is a friend of mine and a great musician.

WANTED: Vocalists For Professional Cathedral Choir

(Boston) St. Paulís Cathedral is currently holding auditions for their professional choir under the direction of Edward A. Broms. All parts are needed: soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The auditions will be on Thursday August 17th, 2006 from 2PM-10PM with 30-minute time slots at the cathedral, in the choir room. Contact Christine Jugueta at cjugueta@diomass.org or 617/482-5800 ext. 580 to schedule an audition.

Some paid (a per service stipend) positions are available based on audition. Additional pay is possible for concerts, for all members.

Auditioning vocalists should bring a recent resume, head shot, and several contrasting musical pieces drawn from ANY style of music you sing at a professional level. Some skill areas addressed will be sight-singing, ear-training, intonation, rhythmic ability, stylistic duplication (learning by ear), and stylistic versatility.

Additional times can be scheduled for those who are unable to make this day.

The commitment is for the year (September through June). Cathedral commitments include: Rehearsals on Wednesdays from 6PM-830PM, Sunday Choral Service weekly at 10AM, plus feast days, and diocesan events. Additional commitments will include concerts and special programs.

Rehearsals begin Sep 6th and services Sep 10th.

The goal of the cathedral choir is to become a consummate world-class ensemble that records, performs concerts, and tours. To do this requires a high level of commitment and discipline, plus a definite thirst for adventure. Over time, the repertoire will be drawn from the best of choral traditions around the globe; incorporating a wide spectrum of styles into the unique sound the choir will inevitably develop as a result of such an undertaking. It will also draw heavily on new compositions especially suited to the needs of our current century and the future. Memorization and highly developed rhythmic skills are essential tools in this.

This is an excellent opportunity for vocal students and professionals to gain experience, develop repertoire, and to record and perform at a high level.

Recordings of the choir are also featured weekly every Sunday morning at 730AM on WCRB 102.5.
