FEBRUARY 2005 - JPF - DALLAS CHAPTER NEWSLETTER

Hello every. For those of you who do not already know, the Just Plain Folks Dallas Chapter has a new coordinator. This is the first newsletter under my direction. Let's get together and show the world why we call it the "Big-D". "We're All In This Together!" Brian Austin Whitney

ABOUT ME:

My name is Raymond de Leur. I am 27 and have had the opportunity and pleasure of living and/or working in many different cities. Some of which include, Salt Lake City, Utah; Cleveland, Ohio; New York City, New York and now Dallas, Texas. I currently reside in Arlington, Texas.

I am a singer (Tenor 1), songwriter, and a rhythm guitarist. I can play some drums, bass and the fiddle. I have been involved with music since I was very young. My mother was a singer/songwriter with some works that were later recorded. I played the recorder (didn't we all) in elementary school until I stepped up to the violin. When I turned 12 I switched to guitar and have played it since. I have also had the benefit and pleasure of growing up and listening to a variety of different styles of music, ranging from classical to death metal.

I recently started forming a band with a music direction towards Alternative Country, similar to Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, Montgomery Gentry, Lyrnyrd Skynyrd and Steve Earl.

Earlier this month I had an enlightening self-discovery. I finally knew with all my heart and soul I was destined to do something with music. Whether it is in the spotlight or behind the scenes. I found my calling. My absolute and often overwhelming love of music prompted me to volunteer to be the JPF Dallas Chapter Coordinator.

I believe that as musicians, engineers, songwriters, publishers, and recording companies, authors, composers and ECT. We have an obligation to spread the word and joy of music as well as improve ourselves, our skills and the industry in general. Whether it is by taking the time to sit down with some school kids and play some songs for them or volunteer to play some music for some folks at a nursing home. Remember, we all need some joy at sometime or another in our lives.

Life is too short to wait for things to happen. If you want it bad enough you make it happen.
