Been blocked creativly for a while now. Finally managed to write something. Here's the link: http://www.soundclick.com/util/streamM3U.m3u?ID=196226&q=Hi A Little Rain Frank Williamson Lost another friend just yesterday And I keep waiting for the tears That’s my last emotion gone astray I haven’t felt a thing in years Light and darkness used to fill my poet’s heart But anymore I just can’t tell the two apart I’m dry as an acre of dust Wrung out by lovers and thieves By any chance would you happen to have A little rain up your sleeve I can’t remember feeling innocent I can’t remember my last sin Call me evil, that’s a compliment So far from any origin Desire and jealousy and every other ghost Moved on long ago to haunt a better host I’m dry as an acre of dust Wrung out by lovers and thieves By any chance would you happen to have A little rain up your sleeve ------------------ www.soundclick.com/frankwilliamson

Howdy Frank, Are you sure you were blocked? Or, were you just building up your strength for this creative burst? I really like this. Sounds good! Wonderful accompaniment. Nice poetic lyrics that were easy to follow and understand. There were 2 lines that felt a little forced.
That’s my last emotion gone astray
Maybe something like; Has my last emotion gone away?
So far from any origin
But, I can think of no suggestion to offer for this one. I'm on my 4th listen. Still, sounds good to me. And, as far as my suggestions go, What do I know? Bill

Bill, I guess you know what you feel. Thanks for the comments. I'll think about those lines and consider what you're saying. Four listens? Now there's a compliment I can understand on a gut level. When I hear something I really like I do exactly that. Maybe I wasn't blocked. Maybe I just didn't have anything to say, and at a time like that it's best to shut up. Hello,FW
I enjoyed the music and the lyric a lot. Interesting your choice of the word `rain'...to me it pulls on the cool dicotomy you got happening...lovers and thieves, light and darkness, innocence and sin, etc.
Cheers!

Bill, Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I think rain goes right along with the theme in two important ways: 1)Rain is often used as a symbol of sadness or trouble. But as the rest of the song points out, this guy has ceased to feel anything at all, so even rain in that sense would be welcome. 2)Rain is also a symbol for fertility, life-giving, etc. Frank ------------------ www.soundclick.com/frankwilliamson

Hey Frank, Profound lyrics, hip style, and very nicely controlled vocal performance. I love the way you hold those words like "dry" and rung- "out", "chance" and "rain".
Kudos on some very effective song writing! This was easy to understand and relate to, as well as a pleasure to listen to. Great job!!
Kindest regards, Michael

Well, he hasn't lost all his emotions. He still yearns to feel again. Neat song, Frank. Nice production, guitar work and excellent vocals. You have a neat voice but I think I have told you that before. Maybe start the fade a little sooner. JeanB [This message has been edited by JeanB (edited 01-15-2003).]

Jean, You are correct. He wants to feel something again. Thanks for the compliments. As far as the fade, this is just a very quick working version done at home. Who knows when or if I'll ever record it for real in the studio. Frank ------------------ www.soundclick.com/frankwilliamson
