Greetings!
First, just a quick note about the showcase last nite at Anodyne. The performers were excellent, the food was good, and although it rained, we PACKED the place! CDs were sold, music and conversation enjoyed and fun was had. For those few of you who weren’t there, we missed you!
Now on to the next event – the Last Tuesday song circle, June 26th! Actually, Tom Thull has arranged for our next two (June 26 and July 31) circles to be held at the Borealis in Dinkytown. This store has upstairs and downstairs performance spaces. We’ll be in the downstairs room, which will be designated NON-SMOKING during our time there.
Speaking of TIME, please note this change: the Borealis has asked us to accommodate their other performers by changing our circle time to 8-10 pm. This venue, which is a caffeine and wine bar, has music starting at 6:30. A band starts playing in the main room (upstairs) at 10 pm.
Tom also tells me: “Scott, the booker, asks that we play original music or songs older than 30 years old because they have run into trouble with ASCAP and BMI before. We'll have bar stools or chairs set up in the middle of the room, and each performer gets two complimentary drinks. I told Scott that we don't charge a cover, and man, did he like that!” Tom also told him that we are there to have a meeting, not as entertainers (however, when people have been in some of the venues, they seemed to enjoy what we were doing), and Scott was open to that concept.
Here are the specifics on the venue: Borealis Cafe 318 SE 13th Ave. (off 4th St.) Dinkytown/Minneapolis. 612-623-9541
See you there a week from Tuesday!
