I'm working on a video of one of our songs which I hope to have ready before the deadline.
I have extensive enperience in production and editing so I'm doing it myself
I don't watch TV and haven't seen many other videos so I have a few questions.
Outside of the title of the song, what other credits are permissable or required? e.i. performer(s)? Songwriter? Album the song came from? Video production personnel?
I'd appreciate any ideas and opinions--must haves, never haves, optionals.
stay tuned, Carl Wade Tampa Chapter
Stay tuned. Carl

Carl,
You should watch MTV or VHI for a couple hours and see what people are doing with their videos. (You'll also see how they use credits). If you want someone to consider doing something with your video (i.e. playing it on TV) it would be helpful to understand what is getting played on the TV already.

Carl, as someone who just went through this... You don't put the credits on the video when it goes to a video channel. But you will need to do two things... One is find out what format the station requires, two get the video Closed Captioned. Then fill out their form and they take care of the "credits" when it airs. That's something that occurs automatically via a process that I think is called Chryon the tape. I think I spelled that wrong, but that might be it. Generally it's the Title, the Album, the Artist, the Label. But again, the station provides that from the form you fill out. Different stations also require different formats. Some like BetaSP, some like DIGIBeta, Some like D2. It's all stuff you have to research. Jody ------------------ Music That Makes Your Soul Happy! www.jodywhitesides.com

Here's what must be a dinosaur of an article on the music video at Starpolish: http://www.starpolish.com/advice/article.asp?id=35 Thinking that a quality video can't be done for under $1000 is stupid. They totally can be done. I know. I've done it. However, there is some good things to think about there. Jody ------------------ Music That Makes Your Soul Happy! www.jodywhitesides.com

Thanks to all of you for the advice.
I haven't been watching much TV but will check out some of the video channels.
One further question: Under "artist"--The album name is "Something Special", the song is "Take Me Back To Tampa Blues", and our group name is Carl Wade & Something Special But the lead vocal is done by my partner Barbara Shaffer.
I'll be making a very brief appearance near the end of the song.
Do I sti.ll use the whole group name or hers?
Stay Tuned Carl, SRQ
