I know some of you think I'm an airhead because I carry on a bunch of foolishness most days but I have learned alot about marketing today. It is not impossible to set up micro-distributorships with major corporations to market your cd. In fact, every single one that I called today was receptive, helpful and returned messages. They require that you fill out forms, submit sample material first, of course. No biggie. All you have to do is fill out the form, send them bio information or discuss how you plan to market. They will either like what you do or they won't. I won't even TRY to do this without a major marketing plan-just allowing CD Baby, my own personal website, and pay for download sites that DiscMakers will provide doesn't seem like enough to me, in today's market. I think to be successful a person should have a plan. Not being a performer myself and not having a venue limits me in some regards, but I think if I use my head, I can compensate for that. Originally, I plan to have 1,000 duplicated. But, even that number doesn't impress me. I don't think it'd be impossible to sell 2,000 by the end of the year IF I get people to agree to the micro-distributorship. I would like some input from other artists who've done this before and who have experience and the knowledge to share some insight with me, if you will. Sounds interesting, Tricia, but how does it work? Is this a plan to actually put CDs into retail brick-and-mortar stores? Or is it a similar deal to CD Baby?

Discmakers does the CD Baby thing for you. I've found out alot since this post. You can apply to "vendor" your cd most places. Whether they will accept it is another thing. Most are happy to allow you to fill out the paperwork. I just would like to hear what other people have to say about their marketing strategy. I have one, already. And, hopefully, it'll be effective one. ------------------ "We spend a lot of time nursing wounded egos that are injured by falling from imaginary heights."--Bill Littleton http://www.soundclick.com/bands/5/giddygirlmusicproductions_music.htm
