Hi Folks,
We are working on jumpstarting the chapter program so we can plan this year's roadtrips. Our first area to visit with be the US Northeast (Everything North of Virginia and East of Illinois most likely).
We will be shooting the documentary over the next 2 years during Roadtrips, so we're only going to visit areas where we'll have a good artist turn out. Let us know if you want us to stop in your town.

Brian - Are you still looking to come to the Northeast first or are you reworking based on the FOM Policy Summit schedule? ------------------ Marty my new home It may be cold out but your heart doesn't need to be. Make somebody smile today.

I will probably still come to the Northeast first. We are trying to get moved to our new house and offices and it's been on hold for 10 weeks. So now it looks like late March til we're even moved in and that probably means May before we can even think about the Roadtrip. Argh! I may be doing some things in Indianapolis for NAMM this summer meaning the trip has to be over well before mid July. I have 45 cities on the itineray for the NE trip, but we're really struggling to get our chapters on line in many of the Key cities and I am not sure I should visit cities with no volunteers to help out, so we'll keep pushing for responses in the East Coast Chapters and see if we can get more of them on line.
Brian
PS: You guys obviously aren't the problem.

Here's some of the cities (48) I am considering for the Northeast/Midwest Roadtrip:
Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Minneapolis, Fargo, Sioux Falls, Omaha, Des Moines, Kansas City, Lawrence, St. Louis, Central, IL, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Wheeling, Pittsburgh, York/Harrisburgh, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Wilmington, DE, Philadelphia, Newark/Jersey City, NYC, Long Island, Bridgeport, Woodstock, Albany, Brattleboro, Western, MA, Hartford, Providence, Cape Cod, Boston, New Hampshire, Portland, ME, Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Syracuse, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Toronto, Windsor, Detroit and Grand Rapids.
If we had support in all of them, I would probably visit all of them. But so far, only a handful have active chapters or even active coordinators to help out. Setting up 50+ showcases and events is a superhuman effort and we also want to include some interview time for the Documentary. Even if we cut the list in half, it's still a gigantic thing, so I am hoping that more folks will come forward to offer help/support.

Hi Brian, I haven't been around this site much lately, but I logged on tonight specifically to see what might be in the makings towards Roadtrips. I'm curious if you are looking towards having one in Bloomington, Illinois again, or if the interest has waned there? Perhaps one is overdue in Champaign-Urbana? I tend to think so, myself..it's a very musical area. I would be glad to assist in the coordination of one, if I get a couple of others to step up to the plate. I've made note of the fact you've said these shows will be documented, hence your desire to have good artists show up. Are you suggesting this be limited somehow to "good" artists?, or more of a suggestion that you would like to know some rather good artists would be among the mix..?? Just curious as to how one might proceed in the filtering process, etc. Anyhow...hope you're all doing well! -GaryP

Gary,
There's no quotations in the sentence good artist turnout (i.e. "good artist"). I am talking numbers, though we're always glad to see talent show up as well. It is reality that we'd likely be interviewing folks with either promising talent, a history of some type of grassroots success or at least someone of particular interest. We might feature an occassional comic relief segment but I'd really rather not spend 8-10 weeks with rooms full of William Hungs.

I performed in Portland, Maine in 2003 and you can count me in for 2005 too! I live in Augusta, and there is a GREAT venue for live music 5 minutes away, in Hallowell, called "The Wharf." They feature live music 7 nights a week! Consider stopping there too, thanks! Lynn Julian ------------------ Julian http://www.CookieCutterGirl.com"Power Pop with a Punch!"

<lemme know what a guy's gotta do!> Mandatory - 1. Read the Just Plain Notes newsletter and respond as requested when the details are announced. Optional but preferred - 2. Check out your local chapter in the forums below and get involved and make things happen rather than wait for others to do the work. On the other events - do you have some links so folks can check them out? ------------------ Marty my new home If you look at the glass and see it as half full, drink up!

When you come to Providence in June don't forget your appetites... we have more 4 & 5 stars eateries than anyplace in the country! I'm sure I can round up some of the boys from the weekly jam... bring 'em down for the show. Looking forward to it! Slick,
We're still working on a venue. The RISA folks are hopefully going to be helping out, but right now we're still looking for a venue.

Just noticed that your Detroit date is now in August...don't know if you got my e-mail, but if I'm still in my current apartment in August the crash-space offer still stands...if I end up buying some property the offer is potentially likewise open depending on situation/environs.

Brian</font> Hi, I was notified of a chapter meeting in Plymouth MA for tomorrow night 5/2/05. Anyways, I'd like to attend yet got to find a ride.. As for stopping within Cape Cod for "Road Trip" 2005, please contact me off board for I will coordinate local artists who probably know nothing of this domain as of yet. Regards, William K. We already have a local Cape Cod Coordinator and show is already set for Plymouth, MA. We'll be sending an update in the next newsletter. Christine Mascott is the Cape Cod coordinator.

This is a question to the other 16 folks listed for the Bard College performance:
Is anyone driving up, and with room for one person with a guitar? I'll be happy to share gas and toll expenses (with a non-smoker please).
I live in Forest Hills, Queens, but can easily meet you in Manhattan.
Thanks in advance!
