Folks,
Can anyone tell me what a reasonable amount of time would be to have a publisher pitch one of my songs to industry-types? I have someone who is interested in pitching a song but asked for a specific amount of time to be able to do it. I would be siging a legal agreement with this person.

When signing a Publishing Contract there should be a Reversion Clause of no more than 24 months for the publisher to get the song recorded. If not all rights revert to you. Do not sign one without thr reversion clause. If it is not there ask for it. If you can't get it, pass on it.

I would just ad depending on the publishers track record it wouldn't be out of line to give him from 18 months to two years to work your song until it reverts back. If he/she's placed hit songs in the past, I would. What's the option? The song sitting on a shelf until you try to get another publisher interested. If it's a fly-by-night kind of publisher or someone with no cuts one year sounds good.
