L*A*M*P Presents:

Secrets of Writing Lyrics to Melody

A special two-day workshop featuring Pat Pattison, legendary Berklee Professor and Author

Saturday, October 9, 2004
Sunday, October 10, 2004
9:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (both days)
UCLA, Dodd Hall

There's no use writing a great lyric or a great melody if they don't work together. An unfortunate setting of a word or phrase can sink the emotion of the song, calling your listener's attention away from WHAT you are saying to HOW you are saying it. This course shows you how to get the most out of your lyrics by combining them accurately and effectively with melody. In the Saturday morning session, we'll look at examples of songs where mis-settings damage communication, some in major ways, some in less dramatic ways. Saturday afternoon we'll go through a set of interactive exercises to heighten your awareness and build your skills, then send you home with a melody to work with for the next day. We'll look at your results in the Sunday morning session, then do song critiques in the afternoon. Admission for both days is $95 in advance, and $110 at the door. Seating is limited! For registration information, directions, and additional info, see www.lamusicproductions.com or call 800-783-LAMP.
