Film Music Network Launches New Monthly Music Law Events MUSIC LAW Q&A: Music Business Lawyers Answer Questions About the Business First Event: Tuesday, November 20 7:30pm
LOS ANGELES -- The Film Music Network, a professional membership organization for those working in the film and television music industry, has launched a new series of monthly events featuring music business lawyers answering questions about the business. The events are intended to help composers, songwriters, musicians and others in the music business learn more about how music business law works and get answers to specific legal questions. The events will be held in Los Angeles, but will be available to Film Music Network members worldwide via on-demand streaming audio on the Internet.
Each month, Music Business Law Q&A will feature a panel of lawyers headed by attorney Brian Lee Corber (chairman of JPF's Intellectual Property Task Force), who will answer questions asked by attendees of the events. Each event will have three segments:
Segment 1: Written Questions - Attendees of the events can write questions on a question form , which will be given to the attorneys who will answer the questions to the audience and discuss the legal issues raised by the questions. Attendees may optionally include their name on the form for follow-up by an attorney. Film Music Network members not in attendance may email questions in advance, which will be answered as time allows.
Segment 2: Oral Questions - Attendees may ask their questions publicly from the audience during the second part of the event. This method may be better for questions that require the attorneys to ask the attendee for specifics in order to answer the question.
Segment 3: Special Law Education Presentation - The third part of the event will feature a special educational presentation from one of the attorneys, followed by industry networking.
