This is different than my ususal, but as always inspired by real feelings. I wrote this for my daughter when she 6 yrs old (now 19). I can hear it sung as a "round".
My Darling Child (c) 1987 Denise Mayo
My darling child, you'll never know The joy I feel watching you grow And every time you learn something new How proud I am because it's you You are the very beat of my heart I have loved you right from the start I needed more than what I knew God made me "Mom" and gave me you
gave me you.u.u.u.u
My darling child you won;t realize How deep they run, parental ties Unless you're blessed by God above with a child that you can love So much love is hard to express I want for you only the best Though I can;t give you everything I'll give you love and teach you to sing
teach you to sing.g.g.g
And song is repeated - this time by two people singing at slightly different times so one seems to echo the other. The importance of teaching to sing is because Ihave always use singing as an outlet - thoguht I don;t have a singing voice - you can sing when happy or sad and express those emotions.

Howdy Denise..
This is BEAUTIFUL! I have not seen or heard a "round" since Frere Jacques in grade school..what a great idea! Love the words here. Great tribute to your daughter.

Denise, This is indeed a lovely tribute. Kudo's....if more people would take more time to tell their kids how truly proud of them they are, well, what a world this would be eh?

Thanks guys and gals - guess what? When I went to bed last night - 2:00 am this morning - I opened my mail and had acard from daughter (whom I wrote this song for) telling me she is pregnant. How;s that for timing - the same night I post her song - Thanks so much for reading it - and don;t call me Grandma - I am leaning towards Dee Dee which was my childhood nick name.
