Hey Stan, THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES was Bob Hope's Theme Song. Jack Benny always presented himself as a Cheapskate. Boy if he could see gas prices now.
My last song? I have one Entitled, THE SONGWRITER'S LAMENT. It would be as good as any.

My last song would (and will) be whatever I was working on at the time, as polished as I had (or have) time to make it. It's not like I have a whole lot of control over such things.
That said, I do have a pretty good goin'-away-now song, that I've used to close some performances; it's called "I've Got CDs Available--Meet Me at the Stairs." But it's already written. Maybe they'll play it at the funeral...

It would be called "this is the last song I'll ever write". But then, how would we know?

hey. PT. Ya can't do that Cobber. I have one with that exact same title. and the "Thank God For That" votes kept it on #1 in Soundclick Jaz charyts for 2 months. Was about 143 songs a go so I don't think I have got it on the forum any more. My last last one will go a bit like this untitled as yet song written especially for the occassion: Rattle some dirt on me someone. While I rattle out this song for you. My life has come and went. And I stil got a song or two. So rattle some dirt on my coffin. Swing that shovel hard and fast. Yeah, Rattle some dirt on my coffin. And I'll be a blues man to the last. DavidW, Just for clarification, the song Bette Midler sang for Johnny Carson on his last show was "One For My Baby (One For the Road)," or some variation of that title.
As to this thread, I wrote a song that will be played at my mother's funeral (and my father's too at some point) called, "When This Day Is Through." It's not the last song I wrote, obviously, but I hope it'll be the one that summarizes me when my time comes.
