Some of you have asked several times how do I get a record deal, well why would you want one when you can do it all your self, YES
I know it takes money, But I bet if you go the right way its a lot cheaper then you expect,
Here is what I do and I own a small Label,
first I send our songs up to songwriters Radio Services to see if their is any buyer interests, second I send them up to what is called a promo libraries,
for airplay and charting, that is the same as the big boys dose,
now if you want to find out the truth read this site for your own judgment,
"Songwriters Radio Services"

How about just explaining it here so folks don't have to chase a link to figure out what you're talking about. If it's a great deal, it should be easy and straight forward for you to put into words and post here.

Gheesh,
I go out of town for a week and all hell breaks lose.

Now Finger's I'm sorry you have been asked some question about your service but we don't miss much here on J.P. Folks. I think we have discussed every aspect of the Music Industry under the sun and then some.

Now I have sent songs to Gen. Bobby Farrell on two different occasions. The last ones on 7 July 2005. So far I have heard nothing from him, or you if you are the same person. How come? I am a songwriter. You can listen to 10 of my songs at www.fiverosesmusic.com.

You are accomplishing nothing here by blasting away with all of your scathing verbage. That kind of language only adds proof to your amaeturism of how to go about doing anything, let alone the Music Business. I guess you missed that book, HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE. Go find and read it. You are providing us with a lot of entertainment, all at your expense.

And believe me, we are all well read in the Music Business.

Perhaps the url list below will explain your stupid question! But I doubt it. It's only the MAIN PAGES, not all the site, I assure you. For THAT, you have to GO TO THE SITE and FOLLOW THE LINKS! That isn't too much for your one retarded brain cell, is it?

You meatheads always want an expanded version of the Encyclopedia Britannica of every SIMPLE point, just so you can piss and moan about the 'hard sell' of 'so many words' - when anyone with more brains than a brick who is looking to make something in music and spent hundreds of hours honing their craft, doesn't have a problem of spending a few hours learning the REALITIES of the BUSINESS they're in!

YOUR problem is, they'll spend those few hours in SELF-ACCOMPLISHMENT rather than sitting meekly by while you and your fellow Idiot Elements - without a legitimate Industry Credit between you - hold 'court'. You can't afford THAT, can you?

WOW... this follow-up post sure sold me!

Someone who has the business savvy to insult the board owner in order to attract new traffic to his site... well, that's the kind of business savvy that GETS you somewhere.

So, I've read the Songwriters Radio Services contract (which could use some help on its legal language, btw). Let me see if I've got this straight. Paying $15 to SRS entitles me to a registration number. That registration number in itself does nothing for me, but it DOES entitle me to pay another $50 to a song broker ("upload fee") who then, presumably, promotes my music to satellite radio stations, so long as I do it within 30 days of registering and paying the $15. The contract does not provide a location for SRS, the people I'm signing the contract with, nor does it state which state's laws govern the execution of the contract. It doesn't provide a name of a responsible party for SRS anywhere in the contract. I'd say this contract is nothing more than a submission form attached to a $15 payment. It does not have the elements required to be a legally binding contract.

So, next, I want to know how SRS is, who runs it and where they're located. The contract doesn't disclose it, which is disturbing, but the site surely must.

No individual's names on the "About Us" page. No physical address on the "Contact Us" page. So I'm not sure who SRS is.

So, SRS would like me to sign a contract with a party that has no physical address, no contact phone number, no responsible party's name, and no disclosure of the company's principals (owners/directors)? Just send $15 off into the ether for what?

This is not evidence of a business-savvy organization. If you want to represent yourself (or SRS, whoever they are) as legitimate, get more elements of legitimacy in the website. Also remember to check your spelling and grammar. The site's main page is atrocious in its poor use of English. Show some pride in presentation. If you (or SRS) can't spell or write, contract out the web page content to someone who can.

Oh... and insulting the board owner is generally considered a marketing faux pas in most reasonable business circles. In this context, the board owner is actually your 1st level of introduction to the rest of us. Insulting the contact point doesn't usually leave a good impression on the people you're being introduced to through him. Just common business sense.

Fingers... Might I so boldly suggest
some anger management classes?
Then by all means, read the book suggested above, I'm sure we'd all chip in just to get you a copy lol.

Have you actually *read* your contract?
if a publisher sent me a contract like that, it'd see the trash pretty quick.
1) all the BS in it as far as wording is enough to make me seriously question what I'm signing and
2) I couldn't afford to pay my lawyer his hourly rate to figure out what the hell you actually said in it.

and the section about Billing the composer at a rate of $2500 an hour???? not exactly a signing point on any contract I wouldn't think. I've seen a few contracts....that's the first I've ever seen something like that,

not to mention I wouldn't sign my songs for 5 years unless it was a major label.
your phonorecord delivery promise seemed a tad cheesy...

With your demonstrated ability to deal with potential clients, I wish you luck in your endeavors, you're seriously gonna need it [Linked Image]

Hi fingers

Boy it's more than your fingers which are on fire. No seriously, a friendly attitude is good business in the vast majority of cases, an attitude like yours are counter productive both to the creative and business community. Kindness, wisdom and friendship are relatives which enhances the business community. As Theodore Isaac Rubin said:

KINDNESS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WISDOM
AND THE RECOGNITION OF THIS
IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM

Finally frankm31, thanks for the info.

Would you still sell your soul to the devil if he was NICE to you?

This guy is a scam, nice or not. Let it go and him along with it.
