In case you ever wonder how good one of your hooklines is; this is a scale you can measure it by.
The 1 to 10 scale for measuring your potential killer hook line By David Hunkins aka moosesong Permission freely given to copy (yeah I know you’re thinking “As IF”)
1. You’re thinking about putting it on a bumper sticker.
2. You put it on a shirt.
3. You tattoo it on your butt.
4. You want to show your tattoo to everyone.
5. You wouldn’t mind if your daughter had the same tattoo on her butt.
6. You wouldn’t mind if she showed everyone.
7. You wouldn’t mind if she showed up in a “girls gone wild at a tattoo parlor” video.
8. As soon as you take a guess at what the royalties will be (from your song, not the video), you think of registering as a republican.
9. You have no doubt it will end up number one on the charts.
10. You have no doubt it will end up number one on that list of phrases people are so sick and tired of hearing over and over and over.

Actually, I *did* get one hook off a bumpersticker ("Can I Have Your Car When the Rapture Comes?"), and I did register as a Republican. (Actually, I did that back when I was making money. Seemed like the right thing to do.) You mean I was inadvertently following rules and didn't know it? I'll have to watch that... Joe www.soundclick.com/bands/7/joewrabek_mujsic.htm

I was only half joking. I've written a couple songs that were inspired by lines on reader boards outside of businesses. My favorite (which I haven't done in so long I may well have forgotten) was "You Might As Well Dance". I was driving to see some musical friends of mine and I passed a reader board that said "When you're already skating on thin ice, you might as well dance". By the time I got to my friend's place I had most of the song in my head. I rushed in, hugged them, said "gimme a pencil and paper quick!" then sat in their bedroom and wrote the song in about 20 minutes. *sigh* I don't get many "20 minute muses" anymore. ------------------ Howlin' Hobbit ( www.howlinhobbit.com ) Got Uke? Thanks Howlin and Dhsongs for the kind words.
roxhythe, that really is a great hookline.
Latteta, I had honestly thought of my #10 as the ultime goal to aim for. But your number #11 has definately set my sights higher.
