Hi everybody- I stumbled on MySpace because a guy at a local music venue told me about it. Yes there are a few things to be aware of, but I have had no trouble since I joined. In the begining, I was contacted by a few stunning women from states or countries so far away, it seemed odd their main interest was to get into a serious relationship, or marriage, right away. All of these types, had a pro picture, with pretty much the same white background. Their messages were full of bad Enlish and grammar, and always wanted me to give them a yahoo id, or yahoo e-mail address, to chat live. Either very little, or no personal information was given. A friend told me they are bad people, and to stay away from them, and that hackers can get into your computer, using that yahoo messenger chat system. I did find some excellent songwriters- and other nice people- some from JPF's. It is an excellent way to network, and get your music out there. Regarding the adding friends: You do not have to approve anyone who looks suspicious. All in all, I feel it is just as safe as most web-sites. Although, there are fakers, and impersonators out there, using myspace for devious reasons, MySpace seems to be the hottest site out there. Check out my sites: My new web-site addresses: http://www.soundclick.com/coolcatcal http://www.myspace.com/coolcatcal ~C~ [This message has been edited by Cal (edited 05-18-2006).]

Hey all, Well, I listened to all your MySpace stuff (yes, all of you). I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety of music represented. Not that there is a thing wrong with it, but JPF has always seemed to be more Country oriented. At least those on MySpace represent a wider genre span. It was a fun journey. I opened a Myspadce to put my karaoke originals tracks on and it seems to be working well, having heard two renditions of one of my songs from there. I put one up there just now. A poem over music and notice the sound and captions are out of sync. It is fine on the original, and also plays right on Acid Planet, which I found after Myspace, so not sure what cooks. All the others on Myspace work fine. Here is my link on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/grahamhenderson And here is the Acid Planet one if any want to compare the two for performance. Just a dumb little comedy thing called The Lady cameleer with backing track and vox behind my talk by Anne Cozean. Sisters on SongRamp. http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=522064&T=7608 Graham ------------------ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/grahamhenderson_music.htm

I hope you all read the fine print in the user agreement. It is a legally binding contract you know!
If you didn't read it, Myspace owns your music now.

This is not true. MySpace does not own anyone's music. Please read the Terms of Use Agreement more clearly. Below is part of Section 6 of the Terms of Use Agreement from MySpace. The link below will take you to the entire agreement. <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2"> Proprietary Rights in Content on MySpace.com.
6. 1. MySpace.com does not claim any ownership rights in the text, files, images, photos, video, sounds, musical works, works of authorship, or any other materials (collectively, "Content") that you post to the MySpace Services. After posting your Content to the MySpace Services, you continue to retain all ownership rights in such Content, and you continue to have the right to use your Content in any way you choose. By displaying or publishing ("posting") any Content on or through the MySpace Services, you hereby grant to MySpace.com a limited license to use, modify, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such Content solely on and through the MySpace Services.
Without this license, MySpace.com would be unable to provide the MySpace Services. For example, without the right to modify Member Content, MySpace.com would not be able to digitally compress music files that Members submit or otherwise format Content to satisfy technical requirements, and without the right to publicly perform Member Content, MySpace.com could not allow Users to listen to music posted by Members. The license you grant to MySpace.com is non-exclusive (meaning you are free to license your Content to anyone else in addition to MySpace.com), fully-paid and royalty-free (meaning that MySpace.com is not required to pay you for the use on the MySpace Services of the Content that you post), sublicensable (so that MySpace.com is able to use its affiliates and subcontractors such as Internet content delivery networks to provide the MySpace Services), and worldwide (because the Internet and the MySpace Services are global in reach). This license will terminate at the time you remove your Content from the MySpace Services. The license does not grant MySpace.com the right to sell your Content, nor does the license grant MySpace.com the right to distribute your Content outside of the MySpace Services. </font> Read MySpace's entire Terms of Use Agreement here: MySpace.com Terms of Use Agreement ------------------ Dominique Preyer Play Any Key Music (ASCAP) Durgon Style Music (BMI) Spin Cycle Films Bramsar Records
