yesterday I was wandering through hastings book store and stumbled upon a copy of Simon Cowell's "I Don't Mean to be Rude But" in the bargain bin. So I bought it Towards the end he has a section called something like, Simon Cowell's Advice for Aspiring Pop Stars I enjoyed it and felt like his advice was dead on. here's a few points he made He begins with "Don't Bother" the odds of becoming a pop star are astronomically awful. but if you think you have talent and drive here's some things to do 1) have talent 2) have drive 3) begin somewhere many solo artists began as part of a group. George Michael / Wham Michael Jackson / Jackson Five Justin Timberlake / Nsync some pop stars began as actors. janet jackson Take advantage of the advantages you have. Solo artists are very rarely signed off the bat. 4) record companies are going to invest millions in an artist. A&R employees like their jobs and want to keep them, they need to feel like they are making a conservative investment in a sure thing. 5) find amazing songs, songwriters and producers, 6) get representation I'm sure there's more ------------------ Ande Rasmussen AndeRasmussen@aol.com http://www.AndeRasmussen.com http://songramp.com/ande http://www.soundclick.com/anders http://www.MySpace.com/anders Editor Of "Inspirations for Songwriters" Message archive: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DIFS/messages To receive IFS, SEND an EMPTY email to: difs-subscribe@yahoogroups.com [This message has been edited by Ande Rasmussen (edited 09-20-2004).]

Good advice Ande. I think I will direct an amazing artist to the post for, as good as she is, I am sure she found her management in a bargain bin also. Her find truely belonged in the dear at any price bin though maybe. I am sure the girl can make it, but only if she finds representation other than her current one, which I am sure are Charm Schol dropouts. Ande,
Interesting! I like the one:
"Take advantage of the advantages you have".
We so rarely do this as humans. I even wrote a song called classic underachiever which was a humorous take on this. We need to be more thankful of what we have and use it to our advantage to further ourselves. We are all guilty of underachieving on some level. But that's what makes us human...

She was reluctant to play the radio card and I'm like geez take advantange of the advantages you have i'll crack the book today and fill in more details simon is blunt but he tells the truth. he'd rather be honest than be nice ande <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by DavidW: Ande,

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
