Title of this one is something that has been missing from many of our live since the Covid crisis hit. But the trends were there even before that. Have often said that modern technology has served to play havoc with face to face communication. Anybody see smartphone burnout looming somewhere on the horizon?
DESIRE TO CONNECT
c2020 Brian Beecher
When there’s a desire to connect In person or by phone Sharing ideas and feelings are what Keeps us going day to day
Having the extra piece of cake Or the whole bowl of popcorn Go ahead you can get back on track When you have friends to pave the way
You could one day be looking For an escape hatch As feelings of restlessness Come to the surface
Don’t do anything hasty You’ll regret later on For something new and exciting To really turn you on
When there’s a desire to connect In person or by phone Sharing ideas and feelings are what Keeps us going day to day
It may feel like the future Is fraught with uncertainty You could be mourning a loss It’s okay to cry and grieve
Once you’ve had a good cry Or whatever you need to do Move forward with some good friends And they will comfort you
When there’s a desire to connect In person or by phone Sharing ideas and feelings are what Keeps us going day to day
Having the extra piece of cake Or the whole bowl of popcorn Go ahead you can get back on track When you have friends to pave the way
You may want to go off And have time for yourself To think about life and responsibilities A calm presence can help
Those around you breathe easier And may come back for more You now have the opportunity To dig deep and explore
When there’s a desire to connect In person or by phone Sharing ideas and feelings are what Keeps us going day to day
Having the extra piece of cake Or the whole bowl of popcorn Go ahead you can get back on track When you have friends to pave the way
Is there something or someone That’s now holding you back Conversations with others Can have a great impact
There are many people out there Who nurture us in their own way When you find yourself some good friends It is a brighter day
When there’s a desire to connect In person or by phone Sharing ideas and feelings are what Keeps us going day to day
Having the extra piece of cake Or the whole bowl of popcorn Go ahead you can get back on track When you have friends to pave the way

There are so many good thoughts expressed in each stanza and verse in this lyric you have penned. I wish this would go public immediately as it is so needed by the masses of wjat should we do now out there. Thanks for sharing this message. ~Matt---hope to see some music to this as well.

Thanks for looking at this one. Was no doubt in response to the increased isolation felt after Covid hit. But in many ways we were headed in that direction long before the pandemic. Folks began socializing less probably as far back as the late 1980s with what was then called the Cocooning trend became big. Feel there's a dreaminess aspect to this piece?
It was in the midst of all the lockdowns when I came up with what I consider one of my masterpieces, "Face to Face with Laura Jean". So far haven't gotten any comments on that one to my knowledge.
