SADNESS IN HIS FACE
1st: Get back don’t touch me was all he had to say Six years old blonde hair blue eyes A sadness in his face How things had ever gone this far I still wonder to this day But I hope I never see again that sadness in his face
Chorus: Sadness in his face tears are rolling down How can someone that he loves so much be screaming at him now How things had ever gone this far I still wonder to this day But I hope I never see again that sadness in his face
2nd: One boy one father how close we used to be He taught me how to ride a bike and bandage wounded knees We’d argue about many things pick your clothes up clean this place When he said the words in anger there was sadness in my face
Chorus: Sadness in his face tears are rolling down How can someone that he loves so much be screaming at him now How things had ever gone this far I still wonder to this day But I hope I never see again that sadness in his face
3rd: At times I wonder if lives will ever change Some things learned and passed on down must not be pre arranged If cycles can be broken bad habits be erased One blonde haired blue eyed child would have no sadness in his face
Chorus: Sadness in his face tears are rolling down How can someone that he loves so much be screaming at him now How things had ever gone this far I still wonder to this day But I hope I never see again that sadness in his face

Hi Craig, You tell this story well, and I think it's a good write. Personally, I would love to see something in there that tells the parents side a little too. I see so many children today growing up with no discipline and no rules at all, and see what the results are out on the streets. Yes, there have to be lines parents should not cross, but i had my butt beat every time I was bad and I am no worse, and I think better for it.

I guess I was trying to show the cyclical nature of abuse. It seems so prevalent in society now days whether child, women, men and animals. God knows I had the belt or a set of hands whipping my ass growing up but statistics show it’s not a conducive form of discipline. I guess I would leave it up to parents. Thanks John

There is a saying from the Bible: "Spare the rod, spoil the child". I have seen children raised without discipline and I believe it to be true. A child should not have to live in fear but they should have boundaries.

This brings to mind one of our most notorious serial killers. Stories were told of how John Wayne Gacy was abused as a child and look what the result was there. Types of discipline that were commonplace years ago would get one locked up today. That is a good thing in many ways, yet we can question whether it is not so good in others. Many street gang members had grown up with absentee fathers; no doubt some may have had absentee mothers as well.

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
