I really enjoy Russel Brand. He is a biting non conformist with an acute type of mental clarity that provides rare glimpses of truth in a world that is mostly distortion.
So does Chappell and Gervais and others.

He did a video on Bill Gates. Bill Gates name comes up here now and then. So, contrary to obviously better judgement, below is the link. At 7:34 into the video, Brand puts into words exactly how about "evil." He did it much better than I ever could.

The video brought forward several assertions that I was not aware of. I've never known much about Gates at all. Some of you may find the video compelling.

Gates is one of the nastiest. The difference between his eugenicist views and other bad figures of the past seems superficial at best. Worst is he has had stupid money at work for evil for 40 years already. Bad dude.

Russell Brand is a rabid socialist, so you are in good company, Marty LOL. I'm very familiar with him as an unfunny comedian and a sometimes unintentionally funny advocate for far left causes. He does make some good points here though.

Unlike some folks who need to see demonic cartoon evil geniuses everywhere, I think Gates is well intentioned. Whether his geeky approach, finding a tech solution to all the world's problems will work is debatable. The best solutions on the drawing board often fail in the real world. At least he sees the problems and wants to contribute to solving them. He has made a major contribution to the eradication of polio. Brand is right to point out the dangers of so much influence being in the hands of one foundation. Even if Gates is well intentioned, he is capable of making mistakes, and what happens when he is not around and someone else is pulling the strings?

One criticism I would have is that Brand should be more careful about the sources he quotes. "The Defender" is a biased anti-vaccination rag spreading scurrilous rumors about Fauci, Gates and others. Check it out and you'll see.

Brand is massively amped up. But he also has extraordinary lucidity and an unbridled inclination to speak the truth. Whenever someone is that amped up, there is always gonna be some crazy in the mix. As I said before, I'll take the truth wherever it shows up.

As far as socialism? I will never follow him there, but the off center right and the off center left have an overlap in their populist disdain for elitist overlords.
I dont think that Gates is evil. I think that he may have an Oprah complex and be a little carried away with his personal sense of self identified deity. What there is to worry about is the predator that may get a hold of what he has set up once Gates is gone. Or before. Your same concern.

When too much power and control falls into too few hands, the world is in trouble. Water and food is something we all need daily. If a few billionaires can determine if you eat or drink, they can control the world. Anyone that reads the bible will see that there is coming a time when one man will do just that for a season. I believe we are fast approaching that season. Governments are used like puppets by these very rich people to surely gain the control they seek. It is not for money, they just want power and maybe worship from the masses.

People like Gates scare the hell out of me! When you've got more money than you'll ever spend in a lifetime, at some point you must think to yourself..."Well, God must have blessed me for a reason." Gates is so rich he doesn't even have to ask permission, he just pays people to do whatever he wants done and governments have no choice but to watch. Consider this... He invests heavily in "Big Pharma" and "GMOs", and currently owns half the farmland in a country where, allegedly, more than 1/3 the population is prediabetic... And that's not to mention the big push to immunize the world against coronavirus before any accurate testing for the virus could be implemented, or even studies of its mutation could be conducted!

Gates openly endorses using vaccines to decrease population. He brings it up frequently with a cartoon level evil grin. He has been sued in India for sterilizing young girls with his vax programs.

Gates is not my hero. I view him with apprehension. Too much power in one person. Too clear and personalized a view of what humanity at large should do....according to Gates et al.

However the India claim is extreme.

Sources?

Oh, for crying out loud, Brian! Gates argues that vaccination can decrease child mortality. This in turn can lead to people in poorer countries feeling less pressure to have so many children. He's not the only one to make this argument. It's the least evil evil plot in the history of evil plots.

Gates has not been sued "by India." The Indian government continues to collaborate with his foundation on COVID matters and did so successfully on polio eradication. You may be referring to this fake story that claims hundreds of Indian doctors sued him.

https://www.indiatoday.in/fact-chec...vaccine-disabled-kids-1707666-2020-08-04

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bill-gates-india-sued/

This misinformation campaign around the Gates Foundation has caused a huge amount of harm. Here is a good summary:
https://www.typeinvestigations.org/...-population-control-conspiracy-theories/

Gates makes an easy cartoon villain - he is rich, powerful, aloof - and cartoon villains are what the conspiracy addicts crave. I share the concerns in the original post about the dangers of power concentration, but this irrational hate for the man, based on lies doesn't help.

There are lots of bigger landowners in the USA than Bill Gates and its simply where they choose to hold some of their wealth. It's an asset.

You can easily google a list but the biggest has holdings 10X that of Gates and Canada's Irving Family owns about 5X what Gates owns

So why pick on Gates everyone?

His money follows his beliefs and my vision of him and the vision others here diverges wildly

Now I did see a part a little later in that video involving Monsanto's commercial practices around their GMO seeds which has long been old news. It is deplorable practice and Monsanto was bought by Bayer in 2018 in part due to its bad rap in GMO, PCBs and such that depressed the value of the company. Bayer in fact paid large fines in 2020 related to past Monsanto activity

"Private" landowners

I'm not picking on him.
I know very little about him.
I know that I heard computer repair shop owners complaining to me personally about the predatory and monopolistic practices of MS a few years ago.

What I also know is...that much wealth and influence concentrated in one human being is something to be wary of, regardless of politics etc.
Not only is he himself a concern but the many people behind the curtain that he is standing in front of are a bigger concern.

Don't agree?....KOCH BROTHERS. I bet that evokes a completely different reaction from you regarding wealth and influence.

Bringing the Koch brothers into the conversation makes you see that you cannot tar everyone with the same brush. There are bad\dumb rich people and there are good rich people

Carnegie built libraries to raise the standards of the population. Rockefeller gave away $530 MILLION to health care, scientific and religious causes. Gates has pledged to leave most of his wealth to charity, and is working hard to do so while he is alive. He actually taked Warren Buffet into doing something similar, and a number of wealthy people have signed on to that as well

Some people are very interested in their legacies...how they impact the world for the better. Some don't care about anyone but themselves or money or power.

Carnegie, Rockefeller, Gates and Buffet are among the first group

And Japov, the rich and powerful meet all the time at the World Economic Forum, the Bilderberg Group etc Think about those as conferences for the ultra wealthy and powerful. They discuss the state of the world. But it comes as no surprise that the conspiracy theorists are hard at work painting these meetings as a bringing together people for some underhanded aim, or inventing The Illuminati as the ultimate global conspiracy

And Japov, simply google your question, you will see this 2009 meeting brought a number of ultra wealthy Americans together to see what they could do for in the area of philanthropy.
https://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=7628545&page=1

It brought good things. More folks signed on to giving a large part of their fortunes away, and each staked out their areas. Gates took infectious diseases and health care

Personally, Besos is a bigger Ahole than Gates. I judge powerful people by the way they create jobs and treat their employees.

I know...in your world KOCH is BAD. GATES is GOOD.
In my world, and apparently Russell Brand's world, good and evil and bad are not the evaluative concern. The system is.
The consolidation of extreme resources and influence and power into the control of a non-elected elitist groups is the concern.

it was a concern with the Hapsburgs. It was a concern with the robber barrons of the late 19th century. (You mentioned the name Rockefeller) It was a concern of the 3rd reich. It is now a concern with the billionaire globalist elite.

Dont buy into defaming lies that are easily disproven. Dont be a lemming either. Be like Russell.

Side note: "Illuminati" was a name that the elite of Europe originally applied to themselves.

Your exit is fine with me. John V and I will be fine without you.
Your presence never adds anything to a conversation beyond the discord that you feed on.

Well... If you're like me, you flipped to the back of the Bible to see how it ends lol. What's happening in the world today is no theory, and the road to Hell has always been paved with good intentions.

How do the rich get rich? How do the rich "REMAIN" rich? I don't care how much money you donate to charity when you die, you're still going to be standing right next to me on judgment day smile

Seriously Russel Brand, thats who you want us to use as a gold standard?

I thought politics on a songwriting forum were not a good idea, according to Marty?

Are you running out of songs? Not working on them, and getting crits suggested by MAB?

But I digest....

You said you were out. So why dont you actually follow that up for once?
You miss the point as usual. I see no point in explaining anything to you.
And as is typical, your last two posts landed on this conversation with the intent of forcing it toxic.

I did not say anything really other than there is a range of people from good to bad anong the rich just like with everything else.....and although the KOCHs are very much political activitists, they are also philanthropic. My main point of "differentiation" was signing on to Gates' plan to give most of their fortune away. That was my only distinction between the group and the Kochs

And glad you have woken up to concentration of wealth. Occupy Wall Street was about the 1% and the Dems have been raising taxes for a long time now. Even Warren Buffet talked about being taxed less on his wealth than his secretary was on her wages....We can thank Reaganomics and Maggie Thatcher and "trickle down economics" for this round of concentration of wealth as well as the taxation policies in the USA and its states that not only tax the rich favourably, they also loosen regulation that let them make more money.

We are going to turn you into a socialist yet Marty crazy

Side note: "Illuminati" was a name that the elite of Europe originally applied to themselves.

crazy

Me becoming a socialist is out of reach John.
It will inevitably lead to people sitting on their butt and letting someone else fetch dinner. Always has and always will.
Thanks for the invitation nonetheless.

Yet, throughout history badly distorted wealth gaps almost always lead to some form of hell on earth. Upheavels, revolutions, wars.
So I am a capitalist who believes that any system has to have reasonable limitations....somehow.
The problem and fear is that someone(s) decides where absolute freedoms stop with regard to wealth accumulation and taxation and redistribution.

The devil is in those details. The likes of AOC are the devil.

The problem with capitolism is there's no set standard. Nothing has any tangible worth. When a salespersons rule of thumb is "whatever the market will bear", then inflation in a debt based economy will always be the result.

If the basics of life had a "set in stone" monetary value, then the rest of the economy would always have a reference point... a common denominator so to speak. If an 18y/o with a HS diploma could afford the basics of life delivering pizza, then corporations would recruit them according to GPA and pay to further their educations.

Absolutely Not lol! Go ahead and let the "finer things in life" be worth more than the basic set standard so, those who are capable and driven will aspire. However, if the value of the "bare basics of life" never changes, then the worth of everything else in life will always be in reference to where everyone started from. The gap between the haves and have-nots would never be so ridiculous. Inflation would never be a problem. Money would have a set value for the majority of people.

Well Gavin and John...

YouTube is now feeding me Russel Brand videos. This latest one is on Davos and the great reset.
Towards the end of it he pulls the curtain all the way back on his socialist bent.

Still enjoyed it and thought I'd share.

Here is another reset video. Very entertaining.

Real world...lol?

Currently, just the concept of money, influence, and power is the most valuable of all man's creations. After thousands of years of inflation and struggle for monetary dominance of this planet, money is now worth more than the planet itself... or the people on it. Profit is more important than tangible worth. Everyone needs food, clothes, and shelter... but no one can have these things unless someone is profiting from them. If you're not making a profit then you're just paying someone who is. Nobody knows this better than the filthy rich 10% who own the entire world, and the governments that they pay to protect and perpetuate that system. The 90% will never catch up because inflation keeps moving the goal and widening the gap. The Bible says it best... "The love of money (greed) is the root of all evil, and this world is governed by evil in high places." That's reality.

As I said Gavin,

There is significant populist overlap between the off-center left and the off-center right.
The Bernie-Bros next best candidate was arguably Donald Trump, not Joe Biden.

And paraphrasing Brand...the inequity and scheming is out in plain view rather than shielded amongst cloaks and daggers.
The scheming and planning phase is complete for "The Great Reset" of humanity. It is in the marketing, sales and promotional phase now.

This is actually where you are wrong Japov.

Profit brought you your current level of civilization through endeavor that today lets you enjoy an amazing life style

Money, influence and power is all about directing activities, mostly toward profit, as you say, but to all fields of endeavor. It's simply how things get done in the modern age as it has in the past.

Call it a structural requirement to achievement. Things get done by people and relationships, engaged in activities, deploying resources

In this big scheme of things, we are all resources. The 90 percent does not catch up with money but by becoming important, relevant resources, important to outcomes. They did not lose because of inflation, they lost because their individual economic value as a resource declined

By becoming more responsible for the successful outcomes and achieving them, you become a more valuable resource capable of exchanging your time, effort, and focus, towards valuable efforts and outcomes .....for more valuable consideration than say someone who performs a simple, directed task over and over, with less individual economic value and responsibility for outcome beyond their immediately directed task

It is why education and personal growth is so important

And that is not about money but again, resources. Control over resources.Family resources and national resources directed towards education and personal development

That is why politics is so important because it directs local, state\provincial and national agendas. A sovereign state directs people and national activities and efforts and can command and control and direct resources towards nationally desired outcomes....again....deploying more than just money.

With political will and creative thinking, the USA could have universal healtcare and education. You are an economic powerhouse of GDP and a healthier better educated workforce is crucial to growth and will definitely make America Great Again

Imagine that ....socialism at work, making America Great Again

Feel the Bern, Live the Bern, Love the Bern

I hear you loud and clear John. There's nothing in this existence greater than your own sense of self worth... even if you have to pay for it.

Here's a question for you; When we beat our swords into plowshares, when there is no more sickness and strife, when the waters of life flow freely throughout the nations, when all knees bow and confess to the King of kings and Lord of lords... in God's kingdom, do you believe there will be any money?

I find it ironic that God is going to pave the streets of His kingdom with what men today desire most...

Straight up...What many many Americans would like is for you Canadians and others to worry about Trudeau's hair style and girlfriends, and leave us to worry about our country.

Keep in mind, that despite a pandemic, a slammed economy and Trump's penchant for self destruction...he still got at least 74 million votes.
Because the choice was an empty suit who got into office and immediately made it impossible for many high school females to win district in track because of competing against jock strap wearing "trans" who outweigh them with 20 pounds of muscle. And then there is the border.

At this point, how many people do you suspect would change their vote and live with the nutty tweets? The mid terms await.

A country the size of the USA and has it's lack of cultural cohesiveness...that adopts full on socialism is ultimately going to see it fail. I promise.

Human nature is what it is. Several million years of organic evolution has led us to where we are.
And now Bill Gates and pals are going to rewire the entire thing in a generation or 2.

Buckle up.

They are going to come scoop you up and turn you into cat food , Tony. wink

BIAB is really coming in handy on this thread...

As I broke new ground talking about partisism here, I wonder if the Trump supporters who claim they support HIM, and not because he was republican, will vote for him if he forms his own party....

Actualy I dont wonder, they will vote Republican as usual. SO they never really supported Trump

I dont think that Biden lost. The Georgia audit and senate races displayed that the numbers were there for a Biden victory.
The audit signaled the end of the effort and senate races sealed it.
Nevertheless, I do wonder what the actual margin was in the presidential race and I was hoping like hell that they would look at PA hard and see what level the corruption was there.
But then an army of idiots marauded the capitol building and destroyed any chance of that.

So here we are.

Do you have any teenage female relatives who are going to have to compete against biological (and actual) males this track season?

Weve all said aot of things, and as the sign says, after everything is said and done, more gets said than done.

Now you argued tooth and nail that BIAB was the answer to my prayers, and said it with the same type of authority you say your other ramblings, which leads me to conclude about those OTHER things

Im glad I didnt buy that junk, Now i can start making music.

You bought all this crap and you go back to politics?

Ahhh well, somewhere theres a white suit and butterfly net with your moniker on it

Cant wait for your next words of wisdom.... and this is all free? tee hee
