Imagine watching a superbowl where the stadium has no crowd? Im sure there will be people at the stadium, more than expected but still, its not the same. I guess a virtual half time show...the weeknd.... lol

Just not superbowl as we know it, BUT, it is a great game. Imagine Tom Brady making it back to superbowl with a new team, at 43 years old, its remarkable,,,have to call him the G.O.A.T. at this point. And young Maholmes who is tearing up the league with stunning numbers, it doesnt appear anybody can stop him, he just has too many ways to beat you. If your cynical, the idea is to hit him and knock him out of the game...which nowadays is a fine and suspension for even saying that....even though back in the day that was every teams goal, knock the piss out of the quarterback so he cant beat you.

Quite a good game really, Im still mulling who im taking, and as soon as they clear the roads from the TWO FEET of snow we had, im heading down to FanDuel to drop a bet...or 12.....

Gonna be surreal with limited audience. But is actually a great matchup, on paper anyway. I dont even think Maholmes was born yet when Brady won his first superbowl.... Actually, he may have been 5 years old maybe

It's funny, over all these years I have never been able to get folks to discuss sports here. Tried fantasy football 15 years ago but alas.

This game seems "too good to be true" marketing wise. It really shouldn't be that competitive. KC is too loaded and has sleep walked all season to a 15-1 record. If they win, they'll have tied the most wins of any super bowl team I believe along with Chicago 85, San Francisco 1984 and the Patriots 2007 (who lost).

If Tampa Bay stays close or wins, I will be suspicious. It really isn't that well matched. It should be a 21 point blowout. But I suspect they will keep it closer as there's too much other stuff going on to allow for a blowout game. Notice how we don't have those anymore like we used to all the time? If Brady wins that would break his deadlock with Michael Jordan for the greatest ever (though people conveniently ignore the 11 championships in 13 years won by Bill Russell, but alas, I digress). Lot's of "narratives" but I suspect this will be Brady's passing of the torch to Mahommes. Lots of money riding on the new "King" since both Brady and Lebron's careers are in their home stretches. Long live the new "King."

As for empty stadiums, it won't be. They've mostly played with less people all season.

Lots of theater going on in many fronts. Far more than anyone of us even know.

Ill take that 21 points.... lol
Hey at family gatherings they dont want us talking about sports at all! We get yelled at. Especially me, I have earned the rep I guess.

Tampa is actually loaded, somewhat unnoticably. They have all kinds of talent on offense and probably a better defense than KC, defintly a better Defense.

I do think Brady is beatable now because hes throwing Picks, he threw 3 last game, lucky to get a win when you throw three picks.

I do question KC schedule, AFC doesnt exactly have any teams that scare you besides them. NFC is Loaded.

I have more work to do on it, but If somebody else offers me twenty one points, and Brady, im taking it!

Brady is the greatest QB for sure of all time win or lose. He may never be in Michael Jordans Arena cause hes actually low key. Ever see Brady do a Commercial? Nope. Peyton Manning is everywhere.

But Brady in my mind has already surpassed Montana, Bradshaw, anybody with multiple superbowl rings

I wanted the underdog Bills. But then there are the Bucs. Having the seemingly immortal Tom Brady didn't hurt either.

Brady is like Mike Tyson in his prime. When either steps (stepped) into the ring or on to the field, the opponent is intimidated by the hell that they can bring and starts coming undone.

Brady does have some receivers. Probably as good as any set that New England ever put on the field. When Brady is on, he can complete 30 to 40 yard passes, one after the other, to receivers that were not open. The receivers know that even if the defender is hanging all over them, the ball will be so precise that it will be catchable. His accuracy and consistency become super human. Aaron Rogers gets like that too.

If someone made me bet, I'd bet on Mahomes, but if Brady gets red hot, he could take it again. After all, he's in his first season with a new everything and he put his new everything in the Superbowl.

Brady's got Mike Evans...very good, hes got Godwin...very good, and hes got a little known sure hall of fame tight end named Gronk, who hasnt been himself, but still, hes on the field and has to be accounted for. Likewise Antonio Brown a troubled, yet dynamic player who hasnt done much so far, but hes still on the field. He even has two back up tight ends in OJ Howard and Cameron Brate wh'od start on most teams. He has more talent surrounding him now than he ever had, aside from when Randy Moss was there,

Kenny Stabler and with my home state heroes with the Vikings, Rich Gannon could hit a sewing needle from 40 yards away.
I would have liked to be like them.
Even though Fran Tarkenton is the best role model.
I like the qb and coach for KC
Running back Ted Mc Knight came from where I was born and live. Duluth, Minnesota.
But the Bucs have always seemed one player away from that brass ring.
I would not be that disappointed if either team won.

So freedom and unity and the idea of finding common ground are leftist ideas? If they are, they shouldn't be. That's all he talks about in this commercial. My faith in Bruce is unshaken smile

When I saw the commercial...I thought it might be him.
But they didnt have him actually speak to the camera or mention who he was so I figured it was some random old white guy...until I saw your post.

Personally Gavin...I think that overly sappy commercials, produced primarily to sell something, yet cloaked in righteousness...do more to underscore and exacerbate problems and divisions...than fix them. Great for the soccer moms and those forever chasing a feel-good-emotional state. Prolly not so great for actually fixing problematic realities.

Kind of like "participation trophies." It only matters that someone tried and how they feel about themselves...not what they actually got done.

Off course it's about money. He's not going to do it for nothing. I have nothing against stars doing that, so long as they don't endorse something they don't believe in. I don't think he's saying the country is reunited. He never mentions that although it appears as a caption at the end. I take that as more of an expression of an aspiration in the same way as people raise a glass to "better days" than a claim that it already exists. Clearly, it doesn't. It's probably a forlorn hope, frankly, but one I share. The fact that Biden ran on it doesn't mean it's an aspiration that lives only as part of a political campaign and it seems quite in keeping with what Springsteen is both personally and as a cultural icon.

The country is seriously divided. Sap-soaked stuff like this makes half the country feel all warm in their pants and makes the other half feel disregarded.
It was done to make somebody buy a jeep and to create warm-in-the-pants-American-apple-pie feelings towards an Italian auto-maker.
I have no idea how well that worked.

True.

"Re-united" is an in your face jab at Trump-licans and a victory signal to Trump haters. It is an undisguised eff-u and good riddance to the ilk that stormed the capitol.
But there are a lot of them and they are still here and the dem party is not a paradigm of united-ness.

Proclaiming that the country is re-united in actuality is divisive.

If no one was paid to say America is great, half the country singers would be out of business LOL.

Commercials have been promoting business on the back of ideas for decades.

It says "To the Reunited States of America." You read that one way. I read it another. I don't think it is intended to describe the current state of the country, which would be absurd.

I have no doubt that Springsteen voted for Biden, but I also have no doubt that the ideas he expressed go beyond politics. However, it would also seem to be a miscalculation on the part of Jeep given that many people are evincing the same kind of reaction as you. They should have known that even a call to meet in the middle would be seen by those who want to be outraged as somehow leftist. Maybe they are right. Maybe the idea of coming together is now leftist. Maybe the middle is now somehow on the left. Maybe a call to reason, finding common ground is an implicit rebuke to the previous President, but we can't keep seeing everything through that prism.

This commercial will not induce me to buy a Jeep. smile

I read the statement for what it is. A declaration of consummation and victory. If the idea was truly to re-unite, a better rally cry could easily have been found.

"meet in the middle"...what middle is there to meet in?
The "left's" idea of "coming together" is coming together in adherence to leftist ideals. Biological males being allowed to compete against biological females...etc. Some of us can never be made to see how that is right or reasonable.

Not going to make me buy a jeep either. Not about commercials. But reliability ratings.

Blah, Blah, Blah... Don't you see that "commercial politics" is the problem? I've challenged ya'll before... "name one thing under the sun that HASN'T been politicized by Obama/Clinton/Biden."

At this point I'm sick of my own complaints... People used to understand that the writers of the US Constitution were no strangers to "absolutism" by the "authoritarian rule of law" and actually fought hard to establish a permanent separation from such tyranny. FREEDOM IS WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO UNIFY AMERICANS! However, freedom and amorality cannot coexist, and "political correctness" is a piss-poor substitute for civility! Contrary to popular belief, without clear definitions of right and wrong there can only be anarchy.

I'm also sick of sounding like a broken record... Yeah', it's not difficult to understand BS-pringsteen's motivation behind doing that commercial, but I realize that same motivation is behind EVERYTHING these days.

Maybe it is like Harley. Lousy engineering and performance...but a head trip that draws people.

In other news...Springsteen sort of looked like that native American who ran a tear down his cheek on some commercial years ago. Did he not?

The irony is, if it wasn't for this thread, I would be completely unaware...
I didn't even bother to watch the game, I knew it would just piss me off!

Well...that presents an opportunity.

Brian has seemingly expressed the desire to remove political content from his site. That was a startling moment when the clouds parted and a little sanity shined through them around here. I suspect that it was spurred by a desire to clean the place up for his awards, but whatever reason is a good reason.

But then, a Springsteen commercial at the SB fired it all again. It began innocently enough with Fd fawning over his god amongst us...but then Gavin went and dropped the mamby pamby, Kumbaya, Rodney King, libtardanian, feel-good, mumbo jumbo ...and it fired it up again.

I suggest...let this crap die here and go back to pontificating about musical this and that. The effin impeachent starts today. I suggest taking a pass on it around here. There are other more suited places to complain.

And it launched Gavin into one of his ...I'm all for Bruce or any liberal who talks about holding hands and sharing coca cola....accolaides

Good enuf place to shut it down...Or....??

YOU NEVER TOLD ANYONE HOW TO BET CORRECTLY!

ALL YOU SAID WAS BRADY MIGHT WIN OR BRADY MIGHT NOT.

Oh yeah. RIght. Got it.
You are now announcing that taking Tampa plus 3.5 was a genius strategy and to be lauded.

You should have looked in your crystal ball and side-tabled KC plus 21 and made enough money to buy an island.

Speaking of work...I gotta get back to it this morning.

So coming under 56.5 points is nailing it?
I bet you are a grand champion horse shoe tosser too.

Tampa Bays entire team played like a Super Bowl Team. Brady got deserved credit, but the line and backs opened up the ground and the defense smothered KC on every part of the field. Beautiful thing to watch.

LOL...I prefer to exalt you. Consider yourself exalted. No Springsteen, but exalted nonetheless.

I'm glad I'm far removed from this Super Bowl crap. Hey, it's just a game, it isn't freakin' rocket science. Jeez, that felt good. laugh

Yes, anything can be made complicated. Even music. I saw a special years ago on how flies mate. Wow, was that in depth.Though I could care less.I know, so why did I watch the damn thing? Strictly for entertainment. laugh

And flies have the ability to see objects coming towards them 4 times faster than humans. That's why it ain't easy swatting them. Yeah Fde, I try to capture them and let them loose outside. Embarrasing.
