I wrote this as a note to my daughter when she was 15 because she was upset about something and wouldn't talk to me. I think it needs to be a little faster tempo (?) . Best Part of MeIf I ever had to chose between life and lovin you I know where my heart would stand If I ever had, everything to lose I'd put it all right in your hands CHORUS Cus everything you've given me and all that you are is more than I could ever hope to be look into my eyes, you can see read my mind, you're the best part of me If you ever have a doubt, we can work it out I want you to know, I'm here I can take the tears, you can cry outloud you've got nothing to fear CHORUS You can hold the love inside baby I can see you're trying there's something you wanna say don't let me get in your way I'm on your side If you think you're gonna fall when your backs against the wall hold on to me, I'm strong Nothing you could ever say could make my heart turn away I'll be with you through it all CHORUS

Nice song Kay-lynn! You captured the romantic lyrics with your singing. Well done! Best, John

Very pretty.
You do "unplugged" well.
I think that the bpm is fine...personally.

I don't know which I enjoyed most, the "story behind the song"... or the song, itself, Kay-lynn:
Most parents can easily relate to this well written (and well performed) song. Your vocal on this is clear, honest and so expressive. As Martin said, the tempo is fine! On an even brighter note, the romantic element John identified is there... whether intentional or not... so the song works in at least two directions for you. Thanks so much for sharing. Top notch. ----Dave

Kay-Lynn,
You have a special talent with the "it" factor. When someone posts a song that's produced modestly, yet still knocks the socks off of you--you know you're listening to a talented writer. The story is so relatable, as I have a nineteen year old daughter--(even though I'm a senior citizen--I got a little frisky in my 40's). I think with a Nashville production, this could be a hit given to the right performing artist. (You sound great, but as we know, it's not easy getting invited to the big party).
If you are thinking of tweaking the production yourself, I don't think the wide panned percussion effects are needed--as this song is about just letting the vocal convey the wonderful melody without the what could be slightly disconcerting panned sounds--JMO.
Love,love, loved this!

I have a 13 year-old and could so relate to this. I loved everything about it. The production choices/arrangement were really suited to it as well. I hope you are playing it out somewhere.

Kay-Lynn,
Really enjoyed my listen. Touching lyrics, with a pretty melody, and sweet vocals. Like others, I think the tempo is fine. If you have plans to do more with this production wise, I'd keep Eddie's suggestions in mind. Keep this simple--it's pretty compelling as is. Nicely done!
Kind regards,
Deej

Wow, this is very strong. The song is very well written. The vocal is fantastic - I love the phrasing and melody lines on the chorus. Guitar work is really sweet, maybe just slightly too much bass crowding the vocal. The drums seem a bit out of place for me, they don't gell with the vocal as tightly as I'd like and a bit too "rock" for me for this vocal and song style (both tone and reverb treatment). I think the tempo is perfect. Some harmonies on the chorus and bridge would be killer. Here's a reference of what I'm thinking of from Lula Wiles - I really like the drums and harmonies on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgE_AqewTg4..ant

most of the time I think there is to much lyric, not the case here. I can imagine not to much to sweep up after the edit. what a super write,. pointed and executed extremely well your voice carries it all.. great work, music vocal and writing. I love it all.. Lane
