http://calcoic.com/images/FISHER_OF_THE_FISHERS.mp3Happy New Year. MP3 Link below is titled “Fisher of Fishers” with amateur attempt at guitar and bongo percussion. http://calcoic.com/images/FISHER_OF_THE_FISHERS.mp3Please any tough love feedback would be great. Looking for objective and subjective mentoring. Very thankful for this forum. Nothing else like it. Lyrics: ———————————— FISHER OF THE FISHERS No [naughty word removed]- Better bring that Atwood Bilge pump right along. Good Good God Bless…ain’t ever yet gonna fix that taillight... on the trailer we pull the pram. Rower boat. Gotta 9’ sea spray foam mould rower boat. All clean and waxed, 10 horses fast with a CB radio- Two oars in case the engine doesn’t row. Portable electric heaters have no place- No say no chance no choice To get warmed by the seat of these brown duck pants All good, uh huh, with master glow butane stove Cranking 3500 BTUs. Uh huh Someone stop all this rain of misfortune Think we better stop all this reign now from dishonest highs Oh yes… GOT A HOOK AND A GOOD ONE HERE AND ITS ALL SO VERY DEAR, RIGHT HERE ON THE LINE. Good Fishers I am staying sober so the blinding sun don’t knock me over. Got my glasses and my hat. Good morning I am driving slow so I don’t smash some critter in the road Got the fog lights on my rig here. Good God I will live each breath in prayer For the good of all I will be aware Got a first aid kit with a cell phone stuffed in it Good as good deal for good got the goods to make it good. Good Samaritan. Good judgement call for the good of all And it’s all here on the line. Pro rod. Got my brown duck bib and my Flambeau rod tube. Grab net, hooked bat and hook extract and a leash to keep the catch… and a cooler for my drinks and snacks. Sharpeners. Multi-stone, diamond stick and angle rod- To treat my knives and hooks…GOOD GOD WITH A PERFECT EDGE uh huh Time to reel and rod… Long Beach reel and rod. Zac tackle fishing beads weaved like a web on the back of my best out back fishing vest… IN FRONT FISHING VEST- Hey Fisher of the Fishers of the Fishers of the Fishes. Uh huh some one stop all this rain of misfortune Think we better stop all this reign now from dishonest highs. GOT A HOOK AND A GOOD ONE HERE YES AND ITS ALL SO VERY DEAR RIGHT HERE ON THE LINE. GOODBYE DIVERSION I CAN’T AFFORD TO HUNT THE COUNTRY SIDE HERE AS MERE SPORT NO MORE

Really interesting and imaginative lyric. Not entirely sure about the meaning but food for thought.

I love the fact that you are doing something different. Like Vic, I don't really know what this is about. It's like the old days, when people used to sit around trying to figure out what a singer was trying to say in his obscure lyrics I don't know if anyone has the patience for that any more, which is a pity. There is a lot of visual detail here, which is a good thing, but at times it seems to take over the song.

Gavin,
Thank you for the feedback. After I played the song for my wife she said... “Huh? I don’t get it”” I briefly will explain the intended meaning in Vic’s feedback post. It is a metaphor that takes 6 minutes to become an analogy... but I think now that it never makes it.
My wife spoke to your final point saying : “Focus more on learning to play good music because People like to get lost in music and not lost in words.”

Vic,
Thank you again for your feedback!
As I mentioned just now in Gavin’s post: It was meant to be a metaphor that takes 6 minutes to become an analogy... but I think now that it never makes it through one to be the other.
BRIEF EXPLANATION OF INTENDED MEANING:
Political or Spiritual Recruitment better be more than a drunken sport it better be equipped with objective facts and the recruiter better be a sharp role model of that conversion with deep verifiable credentials to significantly change thoughts and actions. ... Or there will be no catch. No hook, line and sinker.

Gavin,
I have started into songs on your website and absolutely love what you have created.
Now these are great examples of how to say something in a song and have it be understood. How to make a spiritual or political point in a song in an inviting friendly way. I am taking notes.

Calcoic, I'm glad you are enjoying the songs. If you are taking notes, you will probably find a lot of other folks here with more noteworthy songs I read your explanation and I have to admit that i would not have figured that out for myself. I do like the idea. If I was writing a song on this subject, I would create two characters with names, one on either side politically and getting more and more drunk with the poor narrator stuck between them. That doesn't mean it's the right way. You will have your own style, but I do think the listener needs a little more to grab on to.

Interesting sound............the vocals are really attention grabbing. The guitars need some focus of direction. Lyrics , again, are interesting, but perhaps too poetic for these ears to "simply" appreciate. Good stuff............I like a good challenge. -Tom
