The lyric is very good but I do think the tempo doesn't match the message. There doesn't seem to be any room to breathe which makes it feel a little rushed. The music feels too happy. I wonder if 4/4 time might change the feel? Just some thoughts

I love this song and performance of it. It’s feels like the type of song that gets passed from one generation to the next like old songs that have survived in Ireland pubs.
