https://www.reverbnation.com/pollychase/song/32365814-things-that-never-can-be

Sometimes I wish I lived with the wi-ild birds,
an' I could follow them as they fly.

Sometimes I wish I lived with the angels,
in that place where nothin' ever dies.

Sometimes I wish I had all the treasure
that's lyin' at the bottom of the sea.

An'how I wish I was holdin'
my true love so clo-ose to me.

Oh my darlin' is sleeping in the meadow,
under the glittering stars,
my darlin lies under the wild flowers,
but his sou-oul looks down from afar.

Sometimes I wish I could turn the wheels of heaven,
an' make everything go my way,
an' all those things that trouble me now,
I'd command the wind to blow them all away.

There's a light beyond the darkness,
an' it's calling ou-out to me,

keeps me wishing for those things,
those things that never can be.

Oh yeah I keep wishin' for those things
that never can be.

Hi songbird. This is a very, very pretty song with a nice melody, sad, lovely lyric and a very touching vocal.

Great job. smile

You're welcome. It deserves more attention than it's getting. Too bad.

I like it also, but I find the guitar part either too busy or too loud, as it's distracting me from listening to a heartfelt vocal.
Best of luck!

Songbird,

I enjoyed your tune! I liked the guitar and your vocal style. If you felt you wanted to better separate your vocal/guitar--you might move your guitar 25% to one side so that it's a little more dominate to one side. Then maybe move vocals about 15% to opposing side which might widen the sound a bit--but just a subtle amount is all you need as I felt like I was listening to a simple recording made years ago which is actually cool!

Nice write!

Hi Songbird,

Listened about 3 separate times. As usual your heartache/break in life shows through in your LYRIC. Wwrite from our life experiences & as a writer you draw from your lifes totality.

You will ALMOST ALWAYS write a wistful LYRIC...Such is life huh? Without those life experiences what well would we draw from?

On this one I like what functions as a Bridge with the buried "love" who has passed. It is the only "tangible" part of the LYRIC and supports the theme of the tune. The contrast between wishing sometimes for something you've never had and something you actually had, works.

As for your tune, coming to grips with "Things that never can be" hits home as acceptance & letting go has always been painful & difficult, & in many instances, fleeting & elusive...

Sad song that touched me

Thank you for the comments Steve. Yes I always try to honestly express my feelings in songs. The "facts" may or may not be true, but the feelings always are true. And I think that sorrowful feelings are something everyone can resonate with.

I have been told my songs are too depressing, but I don't agree. There is a reason why many, or most, songs are sad. This is how we try to process and accept the realities of life.

Thank you!!

Thanks Mike. Well maybe it is. I have a lot of guitar solos in this song.
