You look very young John. I'm thinking 18 maybe? Did you have to learn to say Winnipesauke? Who were some of the acts you backed? Many people don't realize some of the big names traveled solo, and hired locals to do backup. Chuck Berry, Aretha. et al. I think Chuck took a page out of James Brown's practice of 'fining' musicians if they hit a wrong note or got out of time. And younger folks may not get what a class act it was when everyone dressed in suits, even matching suits. The crowd thought they were somewhere special when good musicians came out looking like this. And they were! The music made it a special night, a special vacation, memories to last a lifetime. Folks felt like they were living the high life they deserved after working for a lifetime. And I'll bet you boys made good money for the times. And I know you blew it all! LOL Love those haircuts. You were pushing the envelope forward. The other guys were holding on to the previous decade. It was all good. All good. I'm betting everybody sang too. We got into the instrumental soloist era and folks quit singing. They started having a 'front man' or woman who sang every Song, and if they were lucky they might get some harmony backup.
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, it was a totally different world back then. So much work for musicians then. Gary... not big acts, but some known acts. Best, John
