You can set MySpace to not send you email notices. It's the only site I've done that with because, I always check it out anyway. I'm going to let JPF and Facebook send me emails because I'd probably forget to check them out. http//www.boscoden.com

Wow, I see a LOT of people on this thread that I never see on the boards......Hi all!
Check out my friends panel, there are some people that I (we) know personally, some Nashville locals who aren't members of this website, there are some folks who are spread out all over the United States, and even more who live in Europe.
Most of the friends on my page play music, some I know personally, some I only know online, but their music is really beautiful.........
New Age instrumental, Hard Southern Rock, Country, Folk, and a wide variety of other styles and genres.......

this thread is a fascinating bit of history... i love reading the first page where everyone's like "myspace is kind of cool, a lot of people seem to be using it, i wonder who started it? do you think it will be a big influence?" that was just a few years ago, and already myspace peaked and seems to be losing popularity & seen as 'dated' already. but i still like it. http://www.myspace.com/babettemusic

MySpace can be very cool. It can be helpful, for instance, to search and find all MySpace members within a certain ZIP code that enjoy the Dave Matthews Band and send them a "friend request" -- hey, you like DMB, I like DMB, maybe you'll like my stuff too!" Basically, you can very specifically identify a group of potential fans, who've willingly put this info out there in the MySpace system to find. I've heard of no-name bands that are able to pull in a decent crowd when they place a strange city for the first time, thanks to MySpace connections.

My thinking is that facebook superceded myspace, although I did a get few independent cuts using myspace about a decade ago.
